Surely the newer libcap doesn't depend on itself already being installed in order to build. Another is to use "su -" rather than "su" as previously noted. /usr/share/texmf/bin is in Slackware's default $PATH (depending on how one defines that), but using "su" doesn't execute /etc/profile, and so the /etc/profile.d/tetex.* script that adds /usr/share/texmf/bin to the $PATH is not run, and that directory is then not part of the $PATH. One could argue that the default $PATH is the $PATH that is built into the shell, which is why I offer the disclaimer to avoid getting caught up in semantics. Another solution is to source /etc/profile like this after running su: . /etc/profile I'm not sure if there's a functional difference to using this approach over "su -". I tend to take the path of least resistance and build on a dedicated build box after logging in as root from a virtual console. Installing 1.97 for 12.0 on 12.1 allowed 2.11 to build on 12.1. Given my previous errors, I would guess it can now find capabilities.h where it expects it to be. From a quick Google search I found two useful link: OpenSuSE 11.0 rpm for i586:(see the Files section) http://rpmfind.net//linux/RPM/opensuse/11.0/i586/irqbalance-0.55-88.1.i586.html And some other rpms for many other distro: http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=irqbalance which seems all of those place the binary file in /usr/sbin. In my view, what the irqbanlance eventually do is to modify /proc/irq/*/smp_affinity file if you run a SMP system. And all the smp_affinity file is own by root and have 600 mode. So only if run as root, this programe could take into effect. -- Best Regard, Grissiom -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... There was a project out there to port the slackbuilds.org setup to x86_64, but I haven't heard anything about it in quite some time. Its very trivial to make these changes/additions to the existing SBo scripts and, frankly, I think its a waste of time to have scripts dedicated just to x86_64. Now, someone could do a small write-up on "How to port SBo scripts to build on x86_64" and send it into the SBo admins and see if they'll post it in their HOWTOs section. -Matt From xgizzmo at slackbuilds.org Wed Sep 3 23:00:07 2008 From: xgizzmo at slackbuilds.org (xgizzmo at slackbuilds.org) Date: Wed, 3 Sep 2008 19:00:07 -0400 Subject: [Slackbuilds-users] Updates - 20080903 Message-ID: <200809031900.07366.xgizzmo@slackbuilds.org> Wed Sep 3 22:40:27 UTC 2008 desktop/rss-glx: Added - rss-glx is a port of some nifty OpenGL screensavers that were originally written for Windows to GLX. So, I submitted the update for VirtualBox-2.0.0 some minutes ago. The scripts on the page listed above were updated as well, so they are now identical to the scripts in pending (except for $BUILD and $TAG). There are some major changes coming with that update. VirtualBox is no longer installed in /opt/vbox, but files are split up to /usr/lib/virtualbox, /usr/share/virtualbox, /usr/src, etc The resulting package is now similar to those other distros ship. Be sure to manually take care of /etc/vbox/vbox.cfg after the update, as that file changed. Have fun :) Grs, Heinz -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... We don't have a build of evince because nobody has taken the time to do one, and since inkscape functions just fine otherwise without it, I haven't bothered to work on it either. If print preview functionality is something that you really need (and I understand if that's the case), then perhaps you might consider one of the third-party gnome offerings or maybe even work up a dependency tree for evince. -RW From rw at rlworkman.net Mon Sep 8 03:01:06 2008 From: rw at rlworkman.net (Robby Workman) Date: Sun, 7 Sep 2008 22:01:06 -0500 Subject: [Slackbuilds-users] Little problems In-Reply-To: <3b4dc1f00808142038l6f79e5fbu145d34952b3f10ca@mail.gmail.com> References: <3b4dc1f00808142038l6f79e5fbu145d34952b3f10ca@mail.gmail.com> Message-ID: <20080907220106.499e37fb@liberty.rlwhome> On Fri, 15 Aug 2008 00:38:18 -0300 "Moacir Souza" wrote: > Hello folks, > > Today I decided to install the subtitleeditor pakcage listed in > your site and I found tow little problems that I'm glad to share with > you: > > 1 - In the dependecy package gtkmm, the bz2 file gtkmm-2.12.5.tar.bz2, > pointed in the .info file is somewhat corrupted and causes an ugly > error message in the installation process. Now there is a jack-audio script that does not need libcap for the build in the repository. Is there a downside to using a jack-audio built without libcap support with respect to Rosegarden and Ardour for example. If so, should the jack-audio buildscript be returned to its original state? I wasn't sure myself and talked to one of jack's devs and he made clear that one *should not* use libcap with jack, except when they are running a 2.4 series kernel. The change in the SlackBuild of jack was therefore not to avoid the problem mentioned in this thread, but a bugfix. It will not be returned to its original state. I might rethink this when jack supports libcap also on 2.6 kernels. Grs, Heinz -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... It's a nice window manager that I use it daily. I'm about to submit an update to the latest stable version 2.3.4. The problem is, I've been using awesome for quite some now, and the developer has a history of completely rewriting the configuration file and making all sorts of substantial changes from one stable branch to the next. The upcoming Awesome3 (will be released soon) is going to be _very_ different and will have a completely new lua-based API with, yet again, another changed configuration file, and different dependencies. Frankly, I like awesome2 and don't plan to use awesome3. I'll keep the awesome2 SlackBuild in SBo and maintain it for the time being, but I do not plan to submit or maintain one for awesome3. Many thanks to all the contributors! Some of the highlights include: * After many, _many_ requests, sbopkg now adds preliminary support to install a package by calling upgradepkg --reinstall --install-new. Currently, this new feature is only available in the dialog interface (the cli version will include this feature shortly). If sbopkg finds a package for the selected application in the $OUTPUT directory, then a new menu item will automagically appear allowing the user to install the package. Thanks very much to Erik Hanson for the initial code to get this working. Please do test this functionality and let me know if there are any issues. * Much improved menu navigation -- the 'Return to Main Menu' feature that appeared in the last release is now moved down as a button next to "Ok" and "Back." Additionally, several of "Cancel" buttons are renamed "Back." I think these changes greatly improve things from a user interface perspective. Thanks to Erik Hanson for the suggestions. * There is a new option in sbopkg.conf "TERMBUILD" that allows a user to optionally have the package building process step outside of dialog and process in a regular terminal. Thanks to Erik Hanson for the suggestion and patch to make this work. * Create a pid file when sbopkg is first run and check for its existence to prevent multiple instances of sbopkg from running. Thanks to David Somero for the suggestion. * Add in several bugfixes for the update list. Thanks to Erik Hanson and The-spiki for the bug reports. Please check out the included ChangeLog for more details. Thanks to everyone who submitted a bug report, patch, suggestion or otherwise provided feedback. As always, please report any bugs to me via email, the sbopkg mailing list, or, preferably, using the Issue tracker on the project's website. I can also be found in #sbopkg, #slackbuilds, and ##slackware on freenode. Yeah, it's not consistent, and likely never will be. There are quite a few perl modules whose names would otherwise stomp something else. > Do we have a standard naming convention for perl modules to follow? > Basically I would go for "spamassassin" (without prefix or "Mail") > and "perl-$A-$B" (for cpan modules; e.g. perl-net-dns, > perl-html-parser ...). An upgrade is recommended. The major fixes include: * The pid file is now properly removed when using sbopkg from the cli; many thanks to LukenShiro for the bug report and help with testing. * Checks for the various sbopkg-related directories and files are improved. * A couple of updatelist fixes; thanks to LukenShiro for the bug reports. Again, thanks to everyone for the assistance and contributions. I've received several emails about the installation feature and when it will be working from the cli. I have a rudimentary version working now, but have not yet committed it to SVN. I want this 0.11.x series to settle down a bit and then this new code will come in. Stay tuned. I tried to package pygame (with sbopkg), and configuration failed (python config.py) because some dependencies were missing. I tried to re-compile it (by hand) and I got this warning message by config.py: Warning, some of the pygame dependencies were not found. Pygame can still compile and install, but games that depend on those missing dependencies will not run. Would you like to continue the configuration? [Y/n] so I forced configuration without dependecies (numeric was missing) and packaging was successfull. I think it would be better if pygame configuration works also without dependencies, because if a dependency is mandatory, compiling will fail so you can handle this error, and if it is optional maybe you don't need it. I think something like this could work python config.py if [ "${?}" -ne "0" ]; then echo "##############################################################"; echo "Warning, some of the pygame dependencies were not found. "; echo "Pygame can still compile and install, but games that depend on"; echo "those missing dependencies will not run."; echo "##############################################################"; echo "Y" | python config.py fi Anyway, this is only a suggestion, I don't know if it is really a good choice :-) Best regards, Andrea Maccis From eha at sox.homeip.net Wed Sep 24 07:43:07 2008 From: eha at sox.homeip.net (Eric Hameleers) Date: Wed, 24 Sep 2008 09:43:07 +0200 (CEST) Subject: [Slackbuilds-users] pygame slackbuild In-Reply-To: <48D94E7C.9030907@gmail.com> References: <48D94E7C.9030907@gmail.com> Message-ID: On Tue, 23 Sep 2008, Andrea Maccis wrote: > Hi, > (I already sent a mail to the mantainer, but I only received "delivery status > notifications (delay)".) > I tried to package pygame (with sbopkg), and configuration failed (python > config.py) because some dependencies were missing. > I tried to re-compile it (by hand) and I got this warning message by > config.py: > > Warning, some of the pygame dependencies were not found. The conntrack-tools package has these two minor problems: 1) the file "readme" should be named "README" so that the content thereof will appear on its slackbuilds.org page, and 2) the conntrackd binary expects to find a configuration file in /etc/conntrackd, but the package places the sample configuration file in /etc/conntrack (without the final 'd'). The libnfnetlink and libnetfilter_conntrack packages each have the same problem with the "readme" file as the conntrack-tools package as described above. Otherwise, these packages work great. This and the menu problems leaves the assumption that doinst.sh didn't get executed on installation. Further symptoms could be non-existent VBoxManage, VBoxSDL, VBoxHeadless and some more in /usr/bin. If that is the case there is the question why it didn't get executed. Have you installed it with install-/upgradepkg? You could maybe try reinstalling the same package and look if doinst.sh gets executed. Well, no. VirtualBox's configure has a weird behaviour regarding qt. It does not find qt3 automatically, even though it searches the right paths, so I have to specify the qt3-install-directory with --with-qt-dir. For some reason, if I use that method it does then not find qt4 either, which is why I have to use a similar method for qt4 too. However, if only qt4 is requested, configure has no problems with finding it automatically. Unfortunately this reveals a bug I haven't thought of before, as one can't disable both qt3 and qt4 at the same time. I will resolve this as soon as possible. Alright. I have the following lines in my doinst.sh: ( cd usr/bin ; rm -rf VirtualBox ) ( cd usr/bin ; ln -sf /usr/bin/VBox VirtualBox ) The quick fix should be to just create the symlink to /usr/bin/VBox as in the lines above. I just found a bug in the SlackBuild regarding only building qt4 interface, and the required symlink is just not created in that case too. So there are even two bugs now :( Thanks for the report, I'll resolve this as soon as possible. Grs, Heinz -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... That was it! Since I don't have Qt3, I previously thought it would be good idea to explicitly tell the build script what I have and what I don't. But it seems that telling QT3=no is meant to disable GUI at all (for headless environments). In my case Qt4 GUI is still built, it's just that GUI variable is not set in the SlackBuild, hence the missing VirtualBox symlink. I done some quick edits to the script, rebuilt, and now I can start VirtualBox from command line or KMenu. I've tried on my own using src2pkg mostly, but there seems to be a tangled web of RPM dependency packages. The Slackey sight was not much help. Maybe Synce is not ready for a non RPM environment yet? Maybe Synce is not ready for a non RPM environment yet? I got fairly far, to the point of sync-engine working, and didn't use any RPM's. My "smart" phone started giving me issues so I stopped working on it, but I don't want to give up. If you want to work on it, send an email my way, I'd be happy to collaborate with someone on this. http://slackbuilds.org/~erik/SynCE/ -- Erik Hanson http://slackbuilds.org/ -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... I tryed this software with my IPAQ rx1950 (WM5) one year ago and it (SynCE) was very unstable for me :/ -- Murat D. Oops, I should have looked.. apparently I updated it at some point, as it is running WM6. -- Erik Hanson http://slackbuilds.org/ -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... The Synce sight suggests support for legacy devices running Mobile 2003. At present I'm bogged down trying to compile dependencies for librra. The RPM's are hard to find and many don't seem to compile. Bob W. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
