The official template is up to date as what you need to have in your
slackbuild script as for the different architectures:

as for setting the ARCH; the easiest way of doing this is just setting
the ARCH variable in your shell start-up files. For example, my bashrc,
contains the following line:

export ARCH="x86_64"
