Rather than edit $HOME/.q3a/q3ut4/q3config.cfg, which will be overwritten during update or possible reconfiguration of via the UrbanTerror console, add seta cl_cURLLib "libcurl.so" to $HOME/.q3a/q3ut4/autoexec.cfg. 3. We should add 'libcurl.so" and not libcurl.so.4. That way if/when libcurl is updated, we still point correctly. 4. Also, I am on Slackware64 13.1 (clean install, multilib, urbanterror.Slackbuild set for x86_64) and I needed to correct 'libcurl.so' since the installation was looking for 'libcurl.so.3' in q3config.cfg. Message-ID: There's an issue with Netbeans when using a Java bundle (Java SE, Web, EE or ME) since these require a *full JDK* installation. Here you can read the problem an a *workaround*: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/slackware-14/classpath-problem-803609/ The correct way to fix this (thanks to Dugan Chen for the confirmation) is to remove the JRE package and let just the JDK package in your system. As an aside note, IMHO this is the correct way to work with JRE and JDK packages: if you're going to use the Java Virtual Machine then just install the JRE package but if you're going to work with the Development Kit of Java then remove JRE and install JDK, this is so because JRE is already inside the JDK package. Notice the next thing: When you install JRE $JAVA_HOME poinst to /usr/lib/java and the Java Virtual Machine is in /usr/lib/java (/usr/lib/java/lib/i386/libjava.so) Now if you install JDK (while JRE is still installed) $JAVA_HOME poinst to /usr/lib/java BUT the Java Virtual Machine is in /usr/lib/java/jre (/usr/lib/java/jre/lib/i386/libjava.so) This seems to confuse in someway to Netbeans which execute the IDE without any problem since it just need JRE but when you load any of the java bundle then it will come with the "Perhaps JAVA_HOME does not point to the JDK" message. After removing JRE and install JDK there should not be any interference with any other program that make use of the Java Virtual Machine (tested with Opera and an applet, http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml) Recommended link: http://wiki.netbeans.org/FaqRunningOnJre -- - hba From gmartin at gmartin.org Thu Aug 5 01:23:09 2010 From: gmartin at gmartin.org (gmartin) Date: Wed, 4 Aug 2010 21:23:09 -0400 Subject: [Slackbuilds-users] buildng chrome Message-ID: Is anyone having luck building chrome? Not sure how to answer this, as I'm completely unfamiliar with pd in either version. I'll defer to an SBo-admin-type. But I'd guess that, if they serve distinct purposes and don't interfere with one another, it'd be accepted as just another package. Do you have libev installed by any chance? It provides headers and libraries with the same functionality but in a different implementation, maybe this is the reason why the autohell^W autotools scripts fail to detect the said library. Do you audio guys use such a kernel to avoid audio dropouts? How did you configure your slackware box for these softwares, or didn't you change any of the default settings? Long time i was using fedora and planet ccrma for my audio software, but now switched back to slackware again and i can't achieve the same results. Most of the software i use produces audio dropouts on slackware with default settings and i have no idea how to tweak it. I didn't want to use a patched kernel and i guess somehow it should work without, because i saw a guy (dan wilcox alias robotcowboy) using pd with an unpatched linux kernel and he managed to configure his system in a way that allowed him to use audio software without dropouts (he didn't run them as superuser). I am not experienced, I use occasionally ardour, audacity (for simple stuff like 2 channel recording) and mainly pianoteq (closed source). To my setup the I have to follow those 3 steps 1. disable wifi (!) 2. custom kernel (1000Hz) 3. AND to reniceX (as root: renice 19 -p `/sbin/pidof X`) The last part (reniceX) allowed me to have ardour together with pianoteq. Without reniceX I have constant audio dropouts, I think reniceX it's a nice trick. Of course the best thing is a modern processor + motherboard. I tried the patches from ConKolivas and RT but I failed to see better behavior. I am not implying that they are not suitable or better, I just didn't experience it. I have problem with midi from pd (too much latency) maybe with those patches it will be better. I advice you to check with powertop (check no of wakeups, I found it easier than latencytop) to find if some hardware/software is responsible for audio dropouts. How about to start a "SlackSound" team from here? It has to be enabled manually anyway (environment variable WINEDIB=on), so there shouldn't be any trouble, but it does fix some pointer issues with a couple of programs. It's a multi part patch, but actually the following sniplet seems to work nicely when placed directly before the 'chown -R root:root' (the autoconf is necessary): mkdir dib cd dib unzip $CWD/dibeng-max.zip cd .. for i in `grep dib dib/series`; do patch -p1 < dib/$i done autoconf The patch itself can be obtained from http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?421 where it is usually the last attachment. DIBEngine still needs a lot of work and So far DIBEngines > were not cut for upstream quality. The way I see it I have to manually patch the slackbuild each time I build wine. Fact is these patches won't see there way into upstream anytime soon and that's the case for years, I think. The problem is not so much with the quality of the patches (which don't cause any problems I am aware of and will only come into play when the environment variable is set anyway), but structural decisions. From what I understand the DIB engine that ends up in release wine, some day in distant future, will be made right in respect to wine design guidelines and who knows what, requiring any number of changes to wine. It's more of a religious matters, I think, with some bits of maintainability mixed in. The code originally came from TransGaming... Still, there are quite a few programs out there (for me it's Uru, but have a look at http://appdb.winehq.org/viewbugs.php?bug_id=421) that require it, and it would be nice to at least have the choice, maybe with a configuration variable or something. Naturally, since I am not the maintainer I don't have the final say in the matter, but to make it short: It would be much appreciated and it's not patch that will end up in upstream anytime soone. -- emmel GPG signed Fingerprint: 60B4 D8E3 9617 900C 6726 168F D677 5AAD D40F CCE7 Certserver : hkp://pgp.mit.edu -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... It causes problems here and there, well check out my git build scripts for, I use ddraw hack for some programs, i use git for patching the source and script for build. and DIBEngine is a problem which cannot solved easily, it's complex piece of work, it needs to work with any display driver it's thrown at, and not let go of whet's not needed. -- Ozan, BSc, BEng From sid77 at slackware.it Mon Aug 23 15:23:15 2010 From: sid77 at slackware.it (Marco Bonetti) Date: Mon, 23 Aug 2010 17:23:15 +0200 Subject: [Slackbuilds-users] Updates - 20100815.1 In-Reply-To: <20100814192610.064d8050@shaggy.doo> References: <20100814192610.064d8050@shaggy.doo> Message-ID: <4C729263.4010903@slackware.it> -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 On 08/15/2010 02:26 AM, Erik Hanson wrote: > system/ipheth-driver: Added (iPhone USB Ethernet Driver) > system/ipheth-pair: Added (iPhone Pairing Program) I'm a bit late but source files for these programs are missing :( I'm mirroring them over at http://sid77.slackware.it/tmp/ipheth-driver-1.0.tar.bz2 and http://sid77.slackware.it/tmp/ipheth-pair-1.0.tar.bz2 Ciao! - -- Marco Bonetti Tor research and other stuff: http://sid77.slackware.it/ Slackintosh Linux Project Developer: http://workaround.ch/ Linux-live for powerpc: http://workaround.ch/pub/rsync/mb/linux-live/ My GnuPG key id: 0x0B60BC5F -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.10 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAkxykmIACgkQTYvJ9gtgvF93UQCgjujSGsS9LvtobpkhKv+WcMC4 WRYAoNr/jbzjct30BJI7j77Z46DwnbH9 =3n9D -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- From erik at slackbuilds.org Mon Aug 23 17:16:04 2010 From: erik at slackbuilds.org (Erik Hanson) Date: Mon, 23 Aug 2010 12:16:04 -0500 Subject: [Slackbuilds-users] Updates - 20100823.1 In-Reply-To: References: <20100823010709.5afba9e2@shaggy.doo> Message-ID: <20100823121604.556d9cee@shaggy.doo> On Mon, 23 Aug 2010 11:23:51 +0200 "Chris Abela" wrote: > >> network/avahi: Updated README with gtk-sharp dep. > > The README is indeed updated, but > http://slackbuilds.org/repository/13.1/network/avahi/ isn't. How well any game will play under wine is heavity dependent on which distro, graphics driver (and driver settings), and even the desktop GUI, as well ass numerous windows registry settings. IIRC SlackBuilds aren't supposed to do anything like that, which is why patched are included in the build package in the first place. Is something along the line of 130KB really too much to include it? > If you could keep me updated when new dib engine patches come out I'd > be grateful. You can be sure that there's a new one for each wine release. At least that's how they have handled it until now. You will probably want to modify the init file to the Slackware preferred way. Look at the other rc files available in Slackware. For the config file, you can check if the software supports starting via an alternate config file. e.g. something like. keepalived --config /etc/keepalived You can then modify the rc file to call the program with that specific option. You also have to see if init file has Fedora specific stuff, if yes, then you need to test if that would work on stock Slackware. Just my 2c. Other experienced Slackers will probably give you a better advice. I would just base a new slackware rc.keepalived on the existing init script, and bundle it with the slackbuild. The settings in /etc/sysconfig can usually be integrated into the slackware rc script.
