Subject: [Slackbuilds-users] libiec61883 source link broken
Message-ID: <4ED95612.9020708@gmail.com>
Since kernel.org's recent security issue, the download link for
libiec61883 has been a 404. I found a mirror
http://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/linux/libs/ieee1394/libiec61883-1.2.0.tar.gz
which seems to work fine and shares the same md5sum as the original.
Should I submit an updated package, or can a change to the existing
.info file be made by one of the admins?
Thanks,
Pierre

Wasn't happy about the warnings, so I opted to build pypy myself again.
The build script can be found at
https://bitbucket.org/audriusk/slackbuilds/src/b273dcf103b3/python/pypy
And the packages are located at
https://bitbucket.org/audriusk/slackbuilds/downloads
If you don't mind the warnings, don't trust my packages and don't want
the hassle compiling pypy yourself, feel free to grab the official
binaries from

I fixed it in my branch, should be part of the next update.

Naturally the common people don't want war... but after all it is the
leaders of a country who determine the policy, and it is always a
simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or
a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship.
Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of
the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are
being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and
exposing the country to danger. It works the same in every country.

/usr/lib/* is 32-bit libs. Did you set ARCH=x86_64 in your environment

I forgot that now $ARCH is automatically set? so it it likely to be a
bug in the sources. Anyway multilib is not supported by
SlackBuilds.org: see Q18 of the FAQ at http://slackbuilds.org/faq/
which also suggests a potential solution.

higuita,
The Q18 for the SBo FAQ is the place to start. For some sources,
/usr/lib64 does not get picked up automatically. OTOH, I've run
libquicktime.SlackBuild from Sbo under Slackware64 multilib without issues
(libquicktime-1.2.3). That is, it works fine here.
Thus, the culprit is most likely:
1. you didn't 'su -'
2. You didn't set multilib up correctly (see AlienBOB's wiki)
3. you are trying to compile libquicktime as 32-bit without setting the
build environment. Following AlienBOB's wiki, you will have a dev32.sh
that needs to run in order to compile 32 programs.

diff attached. Also, why use debs? Teamviewer is a 32-bit MS Windows
binary with a wine-1.2 wrapper script and that payload for both 32-bit and
64-bit .deb are the same. The only difference is the dependency data so
that the apt/etc/ package manager can find the correct arch dependencies
(i.e there is no 64-bit binary, wine is used, so go get these 32bit ). It
would be simpler just to unpack the available tar.gz from the Teamviewer
website and skip the 64-bit multilib support.

Hello there.
I forward a message I got from a fellow chrom[e|ium] user to see if more

I never used such thing, so I wasn't aware of it until today *grin*.
What do you say? Should we have it?

Hi
Thanks for your chromium slackbuild!
One thing i'm missing is the support for the --temp-profile, to
load chromium on a temporary profile and removed it in the end (useful
for test webpages without any cache)
So i grabbed the debian script and tuned it for slackware...
i'm sending it to you, to see if you want to add it to slackbuild, so
everyone can use it. :)
Again, thanks for your script.

Subject: [Slackbuilds-users] Problem building lilypond
Message-ID: <4EE2E415.9060207@cox.net>
When building lilypond (with sbopkg) I get the following error:
ERROR: Please install required programs: mf-nowin mf mfw mfont mpost
I'm guessing that these are all part of metafont and/or metapost. I have
a complete install of 13.37 and it appears that at least metafont is
installed (mfw and mpost don't answer up to a command line invocation).
I have already installed the listed dependencies fontforge and mftrace
Any idea what's going on?
Thanks,
Bob S.

SlackWiki.com is functioning. SlackWiki.org is dead.
Please update the SlackWiki links on SlackBuilds.org (e.g. the links
to the SlackBuild Usage Howto and the SlackBuild Writing Howto) to
point to slackwiki.com and not slackwiki.org.

Thanks for the reminder!

Well I'm building as root of course, which is where the problem occurs.

The point is http://slackbuilds.org/faq/#su ... which is explained
here: http://slackbuilds.org/howto/#su
Ensure that you have a clean login environment as root. This also
applies to a shell from which sbopkg is invoked.

Ah. I had read this several times when I first started using SBo, but
forgot and fell into a bad habit of using "su -c sbopkg". Sorry for
being a bonehead. It works now.

Hi
Can an admin remove the shorewall* packages from ready? (although
shorewall6 does not appear on the "ready" page nor the pending one but
the process remove page does not allow me to remove them)
I have an updated package ready for upload.
Cheers
Greg

I approved those, so if you'll send me the updated tarballs via
email, I'll get the new ones into the ready queue.

If Matteo's advice doesn't work (it sometimes happens), you can
maybe rename /usr/lib directory for a while (until you have finished
a somehow 'picky' compilation), so 32bit libraries aren't located: it
works for some other packages.

Ow, I forgot mention that I use slackware-current+multilib.

Okay, then please consider sending us an update for a version
that will build against new ffmpg (see my git branch for the
commit).

Subject: [Slackbuilds-users] Transcode-1.1.5 compilation was broken
Message-ID: <20111221185013.GA4944@orion>
Does you have any suggestion?
Compilation of transcode-1.1.5 was broken.
I'm compiling on a full Slackware-13.37-x86_64 system with following packages:
ffmpeg-0.8.6-x86_64-1alien
lame-3.98.4-x86_64-1alien
libmpeg2-0.5.1-x86_64-1alien
mjpegtools-1.9.0-x86_64-3_SBo
x264-20010510-x86_64-1alien
xvidcore-1.3.1-x86_64-1alien
libquicktime-1.2.3-x86_64-1_SBo
a52dec-0.7.4-x86_64-3alien
faac-1.28-x86_64-3alien
Ive already tried to compile only with ffmpeg and lame but make report
same errors.
make messages are:

Transcode development is a little slow these days so I suspect it will
be a long time before newer versions of FFmpeg will be catered for. On
my own system I have a local installation of the 0.7.x series of
FFmpeg (which maintains compatibility with FFmpeg 0.6.x) and Transcode
builds happily against this when steered to it with manipulation of
the PKG_CONFIG_PATH variable. You can build 0.7.x with the usual
options plus:l
--disable-ffmpeg \
--disable-ffplay \
--disable-ffserver \
--disable-doc
and then simply install libs and headers locally.

The technique I described (local installation FFmpeg and altered
PKG_CONFIG_PATH in the Transcode compile) works fine with FFmpeg
0.7.8, I have just recompiled Transcode against this version.
Works perfectly on my system where the latest git FFmpeg is installed
to the system.

Well, the method is not particularly polished as I use it for my own
system only :). I download FFmpeg 0.7.8 and extract it wherever and
compile as follows:
./configure --prefix=/home/andrew/source/ffmpeg_old/usr \
--enable-gpl \
--enable-version3 \
--enable-nonfree \
--enable-postproc \
--enable-pthreads \
--enable-libfaac \
--enable-libmp3lame \
--enable-libopencore-amrnb \
--enable-libopencore-amrwb \
--enable-libvpx \
--disable-ffmpeg \
--disable-ffplay \
--disable-ffserver \
--disable-doc && \
make && make install-libs install-headers && make distclean
You can alter options as you see fit, these options are designed so I
can also compile SoX and vlc against the same FFmpeg libraries. Then I
add the following to Transcode build, before ./configure::
export PKG_CONFIG_PATH="/home/andrew/source/ffmpeg_old/usr/lib/pkgconfig"
This is a little rough and ready and could very easily be improved. It
is for my own usage, not really for distribution to slackbuilds-users :).
Mostly it is useful if you are, like me, running the cutting edge
FFmpeg as well and need an older version to build other applications against.

Hrm, no response :/
John, are you still interested in this? If so, it could probably
use an update (1.60 is out). If not, please let us know so that
someone else can handle it.

Here's a (late) followup on this (yes, I'm finally catching up on
some of my email that I had flagged to investigate). I haven't
used slim in *ages* (since I concluded that it was largely a
piece of bovine excrement), so I'm not sure, to be honest. I'm
CC'ing Niels (the maintainer, who also happens to be an SBo admin)

Jos? and all,
Lots of things can be said about slim. It's far from perfect and has
not seen updates for almost 18 months.
It is very lightweight though, compared to kdm, and a bit nicer to the
eyes than xdm.
I don't agree that slim should use system xinitrc, as that leaves the
user without options to change the theme, etc.
If you prefer to do so on your machine, it should be possible though.
About using different WMs, there is some more information about this
and other tricks in the slim wiki page from Arch:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/SLiM
Have fun!

Subject: [Slackbuilds-users] Aqualung Music Player bugs (maintainer note)
Message-ID:
First, happy new year and have a nice holidays. :)
Now, on to the subject. ;) The user reported the bug in Aqualung Music
player concerning some optional dependencies (ffmpeg mostly). I am the
current maintainer for the Aqualung SlackBuild and thought I should
report this here. I'm working on resolution (I actually found the
solution, but am currently testing it) and it will be submitted
somewhere after the New Year's eve.
If you're trying to build the package on clean install of Slackware
13.37 it will work fine, btw.
Please, do report any further problems with Aqualung. It's still in beta
and it seems somewhat buggy, although It serves nice as a basic
music player on my system (with some caveats). I'll try to see if the
problem is fixed in the upstream, if not I will post the bug report to
Aqualung devs.
Thanx,
Bojan Popovic.

Hi all,
Starting from 5.1.0, mosu started to use more of C++11 features in the
source code. Stock Slackware compiler does not support them so for
now, there won't be much update for mkvtoolnix. IN the future, I may
able to get some patches from upstream to fix some bugs.

Hello,
Something seems to be happened to the file (scite.tar.gz) I have
submitted lately.
When I try to build it in sbopkg it fails as it doesn't find the
config/changelog.
In the archive I submited, the file is present so maybe it got lost
somehow during the upload.
So should I re-submit the archive or will one of the admins just comment
out line 69 in the scite.SlackBuild ??
The changelog is that important, that's why I ask ;)
Thanks,
Jens

OK, that's probably my fault.
I removed the changelog when I pushed it in my branch, as I thought it
would be better to mention the changes in the script, avoiding one
extra file.
But I did that *after* testing, so I missed the error it caused...
I'll fix it next year...;-)

Hi Nils,
OK thank you !
Actually I had the changes in the script and removed everything later to
have them apart in an extra file :)
I don't know what the best way to handle this as it can get a lot of
comments on top of the script.
Is there some convention for SlackBuilds about this ?
I personally don't mind either way, but I would change it again , if
required.
So happy new years eve to everyone and all the best for 2012 !!!
