My 2 cents:

Eric H.'s (Alien Bob) steam slackbuild script is sorta the "gold
standard" for the Slackware Steam community due to some slackware
specific fixes to the steam startup script (as well as a clear
specification of 32-bit compatibility dependencies for x86_64).

Even though this script is fine for Slackware32, I would skip inclusion
of a Steam slackbuild at this time as it requires a full 32-bit
compatibility conversion of Slackware64.  Perhaps, when Valve releases a
proper 64-bit Steam Client, we an include it in SBo.
