I'm the cwiid maintainer... probably will update the build to include
the .pc because that seems to be "the way of the future".

Hm. Maybe I spoke prematurely.

API changes. I'm under the impression that plugins built against lilv
won't be backwards-compatible with apps using lv2. But that's based
on stuff I looked at last year and can't remember details of now, so I
might be wrong.

Hm. Now I think maybe I'm just paranoid. Still want to do some testing,
and dig up my old notes, see whether my half-remembered issue is for
real or not.
