[Slackbuilds-users] smplayer

I just installed smplayer, version 0.8.6. The current version
according to the homepage is 14.3.0. I would think it's not really the
same application, if it weren't that launching it (yes, it works) pops
up a dialogue talking about the new version!
Is this slackbuild abandoned, or is there some other reason? Would the
same slackbuild work with the new version?
