I think this is an excellent idea. FOSS has quite some strengths, but
naming applications in an intuitive way is definitely not one of them.
The world of proprietary software has Word, Toast, Winamp, iTunes. Now
what does the Linux world have? K3B? Heimdal? Thunar? Exaile? Xsane? Orage?

So +1 here.
