Meanwhile I solved this. My SlackBuilds for libucil, libunicapgtk and 
ucview now use the source from the author's 'unicap' repository on 
GitHub: several bugs affecting ucview 0.33 are now fixed.

Btw. you probably didn't receive my latest message to the list yet: the 
Unicap website is back online (the owner just switched to another 
hosting provider).
