Confirmed here, the trouble seems to be:

if [ -z "$ARCH" ]; then
  case "$( uname -m )" in
    x86_64)
      ANAME=x86_64
      ARCH=$( uname -m )
      LIB=lib64
        ;;
    i?86)
      ARCH=i686
      ANAME=i386
      LIB=lib
      ;;
    arm*) ARCH=arm ;;
       *) ARCH=$( uname -m ) ;;
  esac
fi

The [ -z "$ARCH" ] test fails and ANAME never gets set, if ARCH was
already set in the environment (which it will be, if you're using sbopkg).

Temporary workaround is to set ANAME=x86_64 or ANAME=i386 in the
environment.
