With respect, it might feel like opposition, but it's actually a
roadmap for how to get where you want to be.

(1) Identify all other packages that have qwt as a dependency
(2) Test build them all, find fixes for the ones that are broken
(3) Contact the maintainers, explain any problems you found with
fixes, allow them to do their things in their own ways
(4) Where maintainers are unresponsive, consult with this list, if
necessary take on long term maintenance obligations yourself

That's all work for someone. If you want to be that person, go for it,
because when you've finished qwt there's a whole repo that needs
exactly this kind of loving.
