Indeed. I saw those posts after my email.  I grabbed alienbob's libreoffice
pre-built package for current ( not having time to start a lengthy
compile), and it ran fine.  This indicates the "danger" of using pre-built
binaries,  unless the build is done on the same/similar system software
configuration
