My fault not reading it in full. In a case like this, it would be useful for other distracted people (like me) if the phases: "You must Agree to Oracle's download agreement before this can be downloaded." "This means you have to use a web browser to download it. Sorry wget folks." were strongly highlighted in the README. I think that something like: ********************************* PAY ATTENTION ON IT ********************************* * You must Agree to Oracle's download agreement before this can be downloaded. * * This means you have to use a web browser to download it. Sorry wget folks." * *********************************************************************************************** could help in future cases. I have a script that ? discovers the latest JDK, downloads it, ?uses java.Slackbuild in /extra to build a package, and installs it. This is my wget command to download the latest JAVA once the script has located the proper URL: wget -q --no-check-certificate --no-cookies --header "Cookie: oraclelicense=accept-securebackup-cookie" "${JAVA_DOWNLOAD_URL}" This works as long as you find the actual download URL ? and? not a URL that redirects to the ?actual ? download ? It's important to understand that you are still accepting the license agreement by using wget to download it. ?I suspect Slackbuilds is against this practice for a number of reasons, especially the possibly too magical discovery of URLs via text parsing of HTML. But it's something to consider. Another idea might be an optional WGET_OPTIONS="" field in the jdk.info file. That would tell automated tools like sbopkg what extra command line options are needed to download from the URL given in jdk.info. ? Instead of adding a field into the .info file... There are at least 2 or 3 other builds with the same issue. These are the ones not being archived by sbosrcarch (that's why I know about them). The best the 3rd party tool could legitimately do would be to tell the user "Can't download source automatically", stop the build attempt, and display the README. Anything else ("cheating" by working around the vendor's license agreement stuff) is possibly illegal, and at least violates the vendor's license terms. It's OK to script something like this for yourself (or anyway, it's unlikely to get you in trouble), but distributing it as part of something like sbotools or sbopkg is a legal risk nobody will want to take. But I'm sure it's legal because you are in fact accepting the agreement by sending the header via wget. The only issue of legality would be that someone could potentially use sbopkg to auto-download without explicitly accepting the license agreement. In that case, sbopkg would need an ability to accept an option on the command line or interactive user input to accept the jdk license before performing the download. But, if we can't automate this, then I have to admit I don't understand why the jdk slackbuild even exists on slackbuilds.org. java.Slackbuild is provided in the distribution which will create a JDK or JRE package as desired. And JDK always includes JRE anyway. You still have to manually download the JDK regardless of which one you use. So what is the benefit of this slackbuild even existing here?? ? Hm, does that include games/domination? Last I tried it, that one would work with openjdk in single-player mode, but utterly failed to connect to a server for multiplayer. With jdk it worked fine. One for wxGTK3 and one for poedit. Both are required to test the new poedit 2.0 which doesn't work with wxGTK 3.0.2. I switched to the latest wxGTK3 3.0 branch which include a fix and upgrade poedit to 2.0 + 1 commit from upstream since 2.0.1 hasn't been released yet. One concern about the new poedit is that it requires boost 1.60, which is only available on current. I tried to "hack" the configure to use 1.59 which is used in -stable release after looking at boost's changelog and there's nothing major, but i would love to see more user feedback about this. if anyone is using poedit extensively, please test the new build. here's the bug report if anyone is interested https://github.com/vslavik/poedit/issues/366 thanks -- Willy Sudiarto Raharjo -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... And it's considered development snapshot, so it's not advisable to use it for most applications. It was initially bumped for poedit 2.0, but turns out we can't bump poedit to 2.0 due to newer boost requirement (1.60), but wxGTK3 3.0.2 is quite old (released 2014), so it's a good time to grab the latest update as it would beneficial for other applications/projects. Here's even more interesting news for users: we are also working on ffmpeg bump to sync with the one in Slackware-Current. It's a work in progress and we would really appreciate more user feedbacks and bug reports for non-working scripts. We have fixed some scripts in our branches (see user//ffmpeg-wip branches in cgit) and some have to be dropped since it's no longer work with newer ffmpeg and it seems no patch is available at this moment. There's no definite timeline when will this work be merged into master as we want to make sure that all scripts are working well with the new ffmpeg.
