Why? Hi Ekin, There is a limit of 68 characters on the commit messages. Also, there is not any automatic way of adding your extra text to the commit messages, I have to do it manually, and if it's late at night and if it's taken an hour to clean up a submission, sometimes I forget. To clarify... does that 68 characters include the category and program name? E.g. there's a build called "haskell/haskell-data-default-instances-containers" whose name is 49 characters long. The commit format also calls for a colon and a space after the name, so that'd be 51, leaving only 17 characters for the actual message... is this correct? Also... 68 is a very specific number. Curious to know where it comes from... I don't have the exact answer for this one, but i'm guessing that it would be for readability in the public update announcement as well as in the git log. "git log doesn?t do any special special wrapping of the commit messages. With the default pager of less -S, this means your paragraphs flow far off the edge of the screen, making them difficult to read. On an 80 column terminal, if we subtract 4 columns for the indent on the left and 4 more for symmetry on the right, we?re left with 72 columns." see https://tbaggery.com/2008/04/19/a-note-about-git-commit-messages.html for more info Other projects (eg Linux kernel) also have their own numbers https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/plain/Documentation/process/submitting-patches.rst -- Willy Sudiarto Raharjo -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... You'll want to coerce the packages to install to the system directories of lib/lib64. Sometimes one will need to work with upstream to accomplish this task. - Nate -- "The optimist proclaims that we live in the best of all possible worlds. The pessimist fears this is true." Some things you can try: - Look for a cmake option to set the installation prefix to /usr instead of /usr/local. If you still have the directory in /tmp/SBo/, cd to /tmp/SBo//build and type 'ccmake ..' and look at all the config options to see if one of them is set to /usr/local (you might have to type 't' to use advanced mode) and then change the SlackBuild to set that cmake option to /usr - Look at CMakeLists.txt for some braindead hardcoded /usr/local, if so, use sed in the SlackBuild to change it to /usr Thanks -D. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... I found why the --enable-python parameter broke the build - there were 4 files in src/optional/python-bindings that somehow got lost between 2.6.19 and 2.6.20.? I included those files in a 'missing-py' folder, to copy over if the file(s) don't exist. The gnucash-docs script can now be posted as well. It helps a lot ! For my knowledge : why using /usr/local is *never* acceptable ? About the subject: The CMakeFile.txt for dublin-traceroute was straightforward as CMAKE_INSTALL_LIBDIR was already implemented. It was not the case for libtins on the other hand.... I tried to patched the 2 CMakeLists.txt so it can use the CMAKE_INSTALL_LIBDIR as well. I used diff/patch instead of `sed` but probably not in the best way. I will asked the upstream is something can be done on that matter. Since you haven't logged out and logged in yet (or sourced /etc/profile.d/go.sh manually), your shell session is still trying to use gcc-go instead of google-go-lang. -- Audrius Ka?ukauskas -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Personally I don't use these programs but I found them to be easy to install on Slackware 14.2 x64. anytext seems to only distributed in a binary form. I've just needed to install libraries/gtkglext in order to start it. It's mysteriously reporting: sh: lsb_release: command not found so I'm afraid it migh be quite Ubuntu-centric. It's shame that developers don't provide appimage. notepadqq is open source and lives at https://github.com/notepadqq/notepadqq. It needs libraries/qt5 and libraries/qt5-webkit, as building both of them manually can take a lot of time you can get precompiled packages from https://slackonly.com/pub/packages/14.2-x86_64/libraries/. Then, as usual: ./configure --prefix=/tmp/notepadqq make make install Start it: /tmp/notepadqq/bin/notepadqq Writing slackbuilds for these 2 programs should be quite simple but as I said I don't use them and don't know how to check if they run correctly. -- Arkadiusz Drabczyk From skaendo at excite.com Sun Apr 15 19:07:53 2018 From: skaendo at excite.com (Ed Ender) Date: Sun, 15 Apr 2018 15:07:53 -0400 Subject: [Slackbuilds-users] Fwd: Missing packages Message-ID: <20180415150753.15893@web008.roc2.bluetie.com> NotepadQQ is already in SBo and only needs a version bump. (P)roceed or (Q)uit?: After typing "p", sbopkg proceeds to attempt to download, build and install all those packages. Here is the thing: I already have all those packages installed, and they are the right versions. Notice, however, that if I remove the installed version of Wireshark by hand (with removepkg) on invoking "sbopkg -ki wireshark.sqf" sbopkg seems to understand that all those dependencies are installed, for it only tries to download and install Wireshark. Why is sbopkg able to do the expected (right?) thing in one case, but not in the other? Is this intentional? It is not a big deal, for one can work around it as described. But, naively, it would seem like it would be a good idea if sbopkg could take care of the package upgrade process intelligently on its own. The reason is because there's some other work needed before gnucash3 can be included and that work is now merged to master in this batch. Hopefully gnucash maintainer can submit gnucash3 for inclusion to master on next week's public update. Some of you might have noticed that Patrick has made a big change on Slackware-Current per 19 April 2018, making a mass rebuilt to switch to new C++ ABI and also removing all .la in LD_LIBRARY_PATH. He is also suggesting that any SlackBuilds intended to be used with Slackware 15.0 should contain an additional script to remove any .la produced. However, those changes are supposed to happened for Slackware 15.0, not the currently supported Slackware version in SBo which is 14.2. You might hold that changes to your script for now. I noticed that the version there is the 4 years old 5.0, whereas the latest version on https://git.opensvc.com/?p=multipath-tools/.git;a=tags is the 6 weeks old 7.6. The reasons are mainly two. The first and most important is that the script was tested for two years before posting it on SlackBuilds and it is being used in production for critical server infrastructure (mainly databases) that I maintain. I already have a newer script that I started to deploy in production some months ago and it seems stable enough. There is some patching involved for the newer versions and I want to be completely sure that it does not break anything (ie. loosing data) before posting it. The other reason is that the upstream project has stopped making release tarballs. They only provide the code these days via git on this url https://git.opensvc.com/multipath-tools/.git/ Is there a way to get a versioned tar.gz link from this git repository? The only way I found so far is with ugly hashes in the filenames and even uglier renames in the script. To get to where I found it, read on, otherwise, skip to the direct link for 0.7.6 (the latest tag right now). On their main page, http://christophe.varoqui.free.fr, click on the link for git tags (which I have linked at the bottom of this message). From there, click on tag you want. Then click the tag again next to the commit message. Then click the "Tree" in the top area (not the one at the end of the commit line). Then you should be able to click snapshot for the link. Every other method I found for the snapshot would provide the hash, rather than the tag. What a pain! https://git.opensvc.com/?p=multipath-tools/.git;a=snapshot;h=refs/tags/0.7.6;sf=tgz You can see all their tagged releases at the following address. https://git.opensvc.com/?p=multipath-tools/.git;a=tags Then you can update the download url to match whatever tag you want. They don't tag the releases, and I'm not sure if it'll continue to sync when new tags are pushed on their other git instance, but it could be used to grab a tarball. https://github.com/cathay4t/multipath-tools Another option would be to just download the file using where and the above link (it'll still download the tarball, it'll just have an ugly name -- although, this test was done on a non-Slackware system that had wget -- looks like Debian 8), add a test in the slackbuild to see if there's an index.html file in the folder and then move it to the expected filename and continue on with the script. Something like: if ls index.html*.tgz; then mv index.html*.tgz $PRGNAM-$VERSION.tar.gz fi But I don't know if that method would be frowned on by SBo admins (if the wget does actually download the file, but has an ugly name) Jeremy > -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... It's easy enough to add at the CLI but I expect not so with various build tools. I used to have it set on by default via .wgetrc and while it worked mostly OK, there were enough instances where it didn't work as expected that I now don't have it on by default any more. chris From arkadiusz at drabczyk.org Thu Apr 26 14:23:47 2018 From: arkadiusz at drabczyk.org (Arkadiusz Drabczyk) Date: Thu, 26 Apr 2018 14:23:47 +0000 Subject: [Slackbuilds-users] Where is the script to generate SLACKBUILDS.TXT file?
