Yes, I ran into the same problem on -14.2 today. These .pdf files don't have a version string in the file name, I think sbopkg got confused by that. I removed all of the files that are needed to build Symbola (License.pdf, Symbola.pdf and the tarball), and retried the build. When sbopkg re-downloaded these three files their MD5 sums were fine and building was successful. Yes. I'd like to ask for advice. A few days ago the upstream removed the file Symbola.zip with the font from his homepage http://users.teilar.gr/~g1951d/ There is no explanation except for a red line that reads: ----- New versions of all fonts will be posted after the release of Unicode version 13, March 2020. ----- I put the file to the slackbuildsdirectlinks, but now I realized that the Lisence.pdf has the following statement: ----- User may not host, loan to service bureaus or in any way redistribute ufas, with or without charge ----- (ufas is Unicode Fonts for Ancient Scripts, of which Symbola is a part). To me it sounds like having it on the slackbuildsdirectlinks is a violation of the license. The only possible solution I see is to use the link https://web.archive.org/web/20190608100449if_/http://users.teilar.gr/~g1951d/Symbola.zip Is it OK? Is there better solution? Unsure when this will happen, with all the private repos I have to migrate, this is only one of several hours work I have now but when that happens, I will make a ping here so no one is surprised that the repo disappears for some time. Hint: you might want to go through the other slackbuilds and archive unmaintained hg repos from bitbucket, if there are some Regards, Harald -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I don't know if anybody still uses this ancient software (I didn't and I won't, just tried it out of curiousity), maybe there's someone who does it on a legacy 32bit system. Point is it doesn't work properly on a 64bit system: it builds fine, but if you run it from console, you can see it fails to access the imlib2 library, because it has /usr/lib hardcoded, while Slackware64 uses /usr/lib64. Personally I would prefer to have it purged from SBo, at least in 15.0 if nobody uses it. I fully accept the responsibility for spending time trying it, but if it wasn't there (since it doesn't work on Slackware64 as explained above), I surely wouldn't go as far as trying to write my own buildscript just for that. This makes me wonder how many such obsolete things are there on SBo and do other SBo users think they can stay there or should eventually get cleaned up if they have issues / nobody uses them? Perhaps in the future it will be at least possible to tag them as archived and have an option to filter them when listing/searching? To me it seems not PyPanel ist the problem. Python should be 32/64 bit agnostic, but imlib is. Have you tried downloading and installing imlib form SlackBuilds.org? As root try "ldconfig". I have recently started to use this utility - the current slackbuild is over 2 years old and seems as it may be abandoned. 'dateutils' has had many updates but our slackbuild has not kept up w/ any of them. In particular; v0.4.2 has a bad formatting bug that is fixed in more recent versions. I'm the maintainer of both jack builds, I've been going through my (and some other peoples') builds that depend on jack-audio-connection-kit and checking them with jack2 instead. Here's my idea of what to do: in the READMEs for both jack-audio-connection-kit and jack2, put a prominent notice that says something like "Note: jack2 is a direct drop-in replacement for jack-audio-connection-kit", and a short explanation of the differences. Since there's no || operator in REQUIRES (and there probably never will be), users will have to learn that any time they see jack-audio-connection-kit as a dependency, jack2 can be used instead. It's not ideal, but it would be way more confusing for some builds to list jack-audio-connection-kit and others to list jack2 (literal following of the deps would mean they'd be mutually exclusive, when they're actually not). Willy, and other reviewers, can I ask you guys to *not* put jack2 in REQUIRES? For consistency, if you have to add one of the jacks as a dep, add jack-audio-connection-kit. Anyone who's paying attention and reading the READMEs will see that they could use jack2 instead... and anyone NOT paying attention will end up with the older JACK, but at least it will work. However, I don't agree that jack-audio-connection-kit should be the implied default. Why not just put the %README% flag and not list JACK at all in REQUIRES? That way, people are prompted to make their own decision. I don't use any kind of dependency resolution parser, so I don't know how that would affect automated dependency tools, but I assume when they encounter a %README% flag they throw up a notice to the user. Besides, we make it clear that SBo doesn't support auto dependency resolvers anyway (and as I recall REQUIRES in .info was us throwing a bone to such tools in the first place, so we shouldn't feel like we have to make decisions based on their ability to remove decisions from the user). That won't do as either jack2 or jack-audio-connection-kit is a BUILD dependency, so one of them must be listed explicitely. The same situation with jdk and openjdk. making a note in README is really helpful, but by default, all first level dependencies should be listed in REQUIRES section. -- Willy Sudiarto Raharjo -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... I searched the FAQ and the wiki but I was unavailable to find anything related about this. For example from the avahi readme: "First, be sure you have an "avahi" user and group. Do this *before* you install the avahi package." So that means that we can run the SlackBuild without a user and group and then before we install the package we can add the user and group. But the SlackBuild will fail without user/group... This prevents one to build the package in a different machine (without to worry about users and groups) and then transfer the package and install it to the preferred machine. Also any custom script or tool for building packages it would fail without to modified the SlackBuild first and remove the user and group restriction. Also any custom > script or tool for building packages it would fail without to > modified the SlackBuild first and remove the user and group > restriction. First, let's assume that "appsomething" needs an "appsomething" user and group at build time. The only way to successfully build it is to create the user and group prior to the build process. The resulting package, in that case, will have directories and/or files owned by the "appsomething" user and/or group, AND/OR some executable in the resulting package will run as "appsomething" user or group and/or drop privileges to that user/group after executing, or something alone those lines. The above is essentially why we require the user/group to be in place *before* running the build script. We are aware that in many cases, the initial assumption is not true - perhaps there are no "appsomething" user/group owned files in the resulting package, and there's technically no reason to require the user/group during build time. That's fine, but there's no harm in creating it. Either way, you now have a package of "appsomething" that you can install on the build machine, or if you're like many users, you can copy is to a package storage and install it on one or more other machines. For those other machines, the advice to make sure the user/group is present before installation is correct - for exactly the reason mentioned above about the possibility of "appsomething" owned directories/files in the package. -RW -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
