hiatus?

Most of my packages can wait, but with brave-browser I worry about
letting it get too far behind on security patches.

We're not updating anything in the 14.2 branch any more, but
you are more than welcome to send us a patch (against current
git master) to update it in master.

If something/someone else needs it in the future, the last version
will always be accessible from git.

If you'd like to send us a couple of diffs for:

1) update fvwm3 to 1.0.4, and
2) remove libbson after that,

we'd certainly appreciate it. Make sure they're based on latest git
master branch.

I'm updating my SlackBuilds and Solaar has gained a new dependency python-xlib. But it requires python-xlib >= 0.27, and the current SBo (master branch) python-xlib version is 0.26.

I did a version bump to 0.31 for python-xlib, and it compiled and Solaar works fine with it. However, I did not test any of the other SBo programs that depend on python-xlib. My version bump to 0.31 can be seen in my Solaar branch here: https://gitlab.com/ErichRitz/slackbuilds/-/commits/Solaar

Would you consider bumping the version number for python-xlib to 0.27 or greater (0.31 is the latest version)?

I'm not sure how/if updates to SlackBuilds are being accepted in preparation for Slackware 15.0. I've made updates to my SlackBuilds and they are available here:

Everything has been rebased off recent "master" branch on SBo.

Solaar is the only tricky one in the batch. It gained new dependencies (already present on SBo), but it requires an update to python-xlib to 0.27 or higher. In my branch I updated python-xlib to 0.31, but didn't test it with any other software that depends on python-xlib. I just emailed the maintainer of python-xlib requesting a version bump.

Others:

protonmail-import-export-app: simple version bump.
protonmail-bridge: simple version bump.
protonvpn-cli: version bump and tweaks to README and slack-desc based on project status.
system76-power: version bump and updates to its bundled Rust dependencies.

For those of you still on 14.2: other than Solaar there shouldn't be any trouble using these SlackBuilds on 14.2, but I haven't tested yet. For now I'm content staying with the older versions on my 14.2 boxes.

The maintainer of python-xlib is waiting for Slackware 15.0 to be released to do updates, so an update to Solaar will have to wait as well.

Hi karthik,

I just tested using the same repository and everything went fine:
- I built and installed first google-go-lang;
- then I opened a new root shell so that some files in /etc/profile.d
necessary to use the new compiler were sourced: this is explained in
google-go-lang's README (remember you are supposed to read the READMEs of
the script you build, also if you are using sbopkg);
- then I built succesfully the rest of the dependencies and docker itself.
could it be that you are trying to build the docker sbopk queue without
sourcing those files in /etc/profile.d ?

I have a question. When this situation comes up, script XYZ needs
profile.d file sourced after its dep ABC is installed... why can't
XYZ just source the profile.d file itself, if necessary?

Or, if the file doesn't exist, it could exit with an unambiguous error
message telling the user "Dependency ABC is not installed, please
install it", instead of whatever error message the build process
gives.

I've done this in a few of my builds, to save users the trouble and
allow them to use a sbopkg queue. Why can't this be standard operating
procedure? It's not overly complex or difficult, not going to cause
more problems than it fixes...

Hi.

I already disowned this package on the slackbuild-users mailing list two 
months ago (along with some others). If they still list me as maintainer 
that's an error.

I'm putting the slackbuild-users in "cc" so they can correct this.

Hi karthik,

please note that opensmtpd is not maintained anymore on SBo and will soon
be removed: the version we have in the repo is, using Robby's words,
"insecurely out of date".

if you really want to build the version presently in the repo change this
line in the SlackBuild

CFLAGS="$SLKCFLAGS -D_DEFAULT_SOURCE" \

with

CFLAGS="$SLKCFLAGS -D_DEFAULT_SOURCE -fcommon" \

but if you want to use it in production I suggest you to copy the script
somewhere and try managing updating it yourself...

I updated the version info in the slackbuild script but that doesn't seem

I'm sorry but I haven't look at it for an update: you should ask those
informations to an eventual maintainer but, as I explained in the previous
mail, at the moment there isn't one.

First of all the latest version of OpenSMTPD is 6.8.0p2 as shown at
http://opensmtpd.org

Slackware 14.2 can build version  6.0.3p1 but no higher versions without
installing a new OpenSSL or LibreSSL.

I patch 6.0.3p1 with security fixes from fix announcements for OpenBSD
https://www.openbsd.org/errata69.html

I run it online 24/7. It has been secure for me for now...

I have a new build of 6.8.0p2 for Slackware 15.0 but Slackbuilds.org does
not allow me to update.

Does anyone know when we will be able to update our SlackBuilds for
Slackware 15.0?

If you can submit PR/MR, we can accept it but we will only update it in

 i am using openssl 1.1.1i and i am using 6.03.p1 on slackware current so
if I use the same build which you have submitted to slackbuilds  and it
works for you i am not sure why it doesn't even build for me.
i see some errors about libressl.c but i am using openssl, Not sure what i
am doing wrong?
Could you please assist with this?

If you get the latest Slackbuild from the git repository's master branch, it is
on version 6.6.4p1.
A simple version bump to 6.8.0p2 works perfectly on -current :
VERSION=6.8.0p2 ./opensmtpd.SlackBuild

That's the easiest way to do it !

Slackbuild's git is there : git://git.slackbuilds.org/slackbuilds.git
Always uses this on -current, until 15.0 is out (or even after, but at least
until).

By PR/MR I assume you mean git?

I'm retired, I don't do git,

I spent over 30 years using source code version control systems and I
hate them all.

Is there another way to submit a change?

the current SlackBuild for games/hedgewars fails due to an
incompatibility with the QT5 library shipped in -current.

I have backported a patch from the development branch of Hedgewars and
applied it to the build. The current SlackBuild builds well on both
-current and 14.2.

I hit this bug https://github.com/mkottman/acpi_call/issues/96 using acpi_call with tlp and notice that mkottman/acpi_call don't have any update in years.

Following the comments, there is a fork that ArchLinux seems to be using https://github.com/nix-community/acpi_call

I still didn't try this version (planning to do it tonight).
Is there any plan to use the fork of acpi_call in the future ?

Since this SlackBuild is unmaintained, and I have no plans to "upgrade" my current nVidia card, I would be willing to take over maintaining this one. Legacy304 is the "newest" driver that works with my FX3500, and when 15 becomes official, I'll continue to use it, assuming that I can get it to compile on 5.x.x kernels.
