You made me curious, Jude.

I assume that the braille mode is possible because chafa outputs discrete
characters. Rendering is not good for a sighted user in most terminals and in a
Linux console, however having read

I installed Kitty then from kitty ran "chafa <someimage.png>" and the output
looks as detailed as if the image were viewed in atril or eom or lx-image, for
instance

If you have the needed hardware, please try this:
1. Install Kitty. In slint: slapt-get -i kitty (it's in the repo salix-15.0)
2. Install chafa (if not yet done): slapt-src -i chafa
3. Start kitty (you will need to be in graphical environment like mate)
4. From kitty try to render an image in braille using chafa
Please let us know if that works.
