With oidentd apparently not being maintained, it was suggested I take it
due to formerly maintaining (discontinued) iseeque (ICQ). The thing is,
ICQ is simple--just needing interface settings, at least username,
password--not requiring knowing networking, needed in testing oidentd
(every time I have to ask their IRC channel some hours/days/weeks). ICQ
was simple to use; oidentd is complicated to use (maybe unless you were
using Internet before the world wide web (WWW)) so I won't takeover
oidentd, nor plan to add new network-related software. If I do, they'd
only be a game and/or easy plugins to libpurple (BitlBee, Pidgin) that
similarly require little/no networking knowledge (mostly interface
aspects/improvements, but I don't consider myself a GUI expert either,
despite it's a little easier).
If anyone uses oidentd on servers, please consider taking it over.
Right now, users can just increment the version number to use
oidentd.SlackBuild with several new (minor and major 3.1.0) versions of
the source code. There was some configuration change but I guess you
can process that with slackpkg new-config.
