Yes, "let it whine" is likely the correct answer here. I've found that<br>
sometimes it's impossible to satisfy desktop-file-validate *and* make<br>
logical sense.<br>

sbopkglint just runs desktop-file-validate, which is supposed to check that<br>
a .desktop file conforms to the FreeDesktop.org standards for desktop files<br>
and categories:<br>

The standards are not 100% perfect or consistent. Also, desktop<br>
envronment implementors (like the KDE project) might not interpret<br>
them exactly as intended. It looks like the FDo standard intended<br>
"Settings" to be a catch-all for any kind of "settings" (not just<br>
"System Settings" as Plasma6 uses it). Who's right? Who's wrong? Who<br>
knows? Does an OS package manager count as "System Settings"?<br>

It looks like "System" would make more sense than "Settings", for<br>
slakfinder-app.<br>

Actually. Is slakfinder-app even a "Package Manager"? For<br>

the sense that, e.g. slackpkg or sbotools does, or something like<br>
aptitude on That Other OS). The description doesn't say anything about<br>
installing or upgrading packages. My opinion would be, if it doesn't<br>
install/remove/upgrade OS packages, it's not a package manager.<br>

Maybe it really should be a single category, "System" only?<br>

I probably spent too much time writing this, and I apologize for<br>
it taking too long to read... but hopefully this is more than just<br>
