Quite frankly, it doesn't matter.
This is a "normal" mailman thing - you're warned when you 
select the password that it will periodically be sent to
you as a reminder in plain text.  If memory serves correctly
(and it may not in my current state of mind), you can opt out
of the periodic reminders.
