I've gotten a few emails regarding the fact that as of a few days ago,
Choqok 0.6.6 no longer works because of changes Twitter has made to
authorization. I have tested beta2 and was not able to make it work
for me: it worked fine (after deleting the choqokrc file) when first
loaded, but subsequent attempts to load the program required me to
enter my username and password -- which were rejected. I have not yet
had an opportunity to test beta3 (0.9.90), though I have received an
updated slackbuild for it.

I will not be able to test this until later today, but if anybody else
would like to test it to make sure it's acceptable, I have attached
the updated slackbuild. N.B., this new version depends on qoauth and
qjson, both available on SBo.

I tested using beta3 version and it works using the old SlackBuilds,
but i have to install the new dependencies like you mentioned (qoauth
and qjson)

In order to make it work, you must re-authenticate your username using
OAuth and make sure it's integrated to KWallet or your credentials
will be lost and you will have to re-authenticate again.

Hello, I have tried to build liferea 1.4.28 with difficulty.
First it is not writed in README it needs gtkhtml (by default) or 
xulrunner or webkit.
Gtkhtml in slackbuild is 3.18, liferea complains it does not see gtkhtml2.

I have tried with webkit, it works but then why not use the last version 
1.6.4 wich use only webkit (with no more choice) ?

Liferea 1.6.4 works well also, before it convert v1.4 cache to v1.6 cache.
I have just removed lines
#GTKHTML=${GTKHTML:-"yes"}
#WEBKIT=${WEBKIT:-"no"}
#XULRUNNER=${XULRUNNER:-"no"}

and
   --enable-gtkhtml2=$GTKHTML \
   --enable-webkit=$WEBKIT \
   --enable-gecko=$XULRUNNER \
in slackbuild and change version number of course !

I think webkit-gtk (http://webkitgtk.org/) is the rendering engine to
use with liferea, midori, etc. The 'original' webkit that's available
at the repos is way too heavy on disk space.

It looks like beta3 works! I get an annoying warning each time the
program loads because I don't use kwallet, hopefully that is solved
with the release of 1.0. I'll submit an updated slackbuild.

I used to experience the same annoying warning, but after i integrate
it to KWallet, it disappeared :)

I'm generally disinclined to use KWallet for one program and one
program only. Maybe if I was using Konqueror as my primary browser as
well as KMail and Kopete.

That all said, someone else has submitted an updated slackbuild, so
I'm unable to submit my newest version. I don't know what it looks
like, but if anybody would like to try what I've come up with, feel
free to email me and I'll send you the updated choqok.tar.gz

Strange
If you are the maintainer, the admins would have rejected the package
if you haven't release your maintainer position
please ask one of the admin to remove the submitted package so that
you can submit yours

For the time being, 1.9.6.4 still works, and you can downgrade at the
mozilla add-ons page for Echofon. I've been trying to replace it with
Pino (which is very light/fast) lately but they still have some work
to do.

Hm... 1.9.6.4 use basic auth right?
Twitter has completely stopped support for Basic Auth, which makes
1.9.6.4 shouldn't work any longer
i'm curious how can it be still working

I haven't done this because I was having issues with 1.6.x, mainly it
seemed very slow to start and slow switching feeds. Maybe I needed to
clear my ~/.liferea* out or use webkitgtk instead of webkit, who knows.
If I have some free time I may try to get a webkitgtk script submitted
(unless someone else wants to) and have another look at 1.6.

Yes, i have just tried to install 1.9.6.4 and it's working. Strange enough :)
But i guess it's only temporary until Twitter completely blocked Basic
Auth, so i'm switching to Choqok and or QTwitter or perhaps Pino

Yes, I know 13.0 is not really supported any longer, but I received an
e-mail from a user trying to build LDView for Slackware 13.0, stating
that the link in the .info file does not point to the correct
location, while the web page
(http://slackbuilds.org/repository/13.0/graphics/LDView/) does.

Not sure when exactly this happened, but the 13.1 repository is fine.
Any change of correcting this in the .info file? :)

besides the webkit engine there is the xulrunner option. One thing is
that the flags in 13.1 liferea build may have the wrong config flag set.

I could only build it with
--with-gecko="libxul-embedding"
The other thing is that the build behaves oddly (opening filemanager
windows or FF windows while browsing feeds).

The best option may be to try to make 1.6 available (neither have tried
that for  myself so far though).

The problem with 1.6.4 is the elements tiny font-size.

It seems to be performing well here, compiled against webkitgtk. I
think I will be switching back from RSSOwl. I've submitted both
webkitgtk and the updated liferea.

The vnstat package is missing the IMHO very handy vnstati tool for
generating a graphical report from the vnstat data. This is easily
rectified my replacing the "make" by "make all". I think it might be a
good idea to change that if nobody (including the maintainer) sees a
problem with that.

I'm sending this e-mail because I tried to install network manager (to let
my laptop manage wireless connections) and the applet without success.
After havin downloaded the tarball (network-manager-applet-0.81) and the
SlackBuild I've also downloaded the gnome-keyring package (tarball +
SlackBuild). I've also downloaded libtasn1 and GConf and I've started to
install these last ones without any problem.
Going backward I've started the procedure for installing gnome-keyring and
the process stops with a message concerning the lack of the
libtasn1-config file (in /usr/bin) or the displacement of the whole
package (that I didn't make).
Do you have any suggestion to overcome the problem?
I've also tried to download the libtasn1 library from GNU site and make
the library from scratch, but the problem remains (in the installation
procedure I didn't find any point where the libtasn1-config file had to be
made).

If you're on Slackware 13.1, then building these things using our
build scripts using the document procedure [1] in the following 
order should work:
  libtasn1, ORBit2, GConf, gnome-keyring, NetworkManager, 
  network-manager-applet

What's the status of SLiM now?
I use it on two machines and, although gdm might be superior :) , it
serves its purpose.

I've gotten quite attached to gdm, so slim is pretty much a
relic as far as I'm concerned... :-)

I'd be interested to know if that tarball I had attached actually
works as expected though - it was untested here.  I'll attach it
again since you actually use slim  :)  

For what it's worth, I've not gotten a response from Frank on 
this, so if you or someone else who uses it wants to take over
maintenance, I guess it's only fair to allow it at this point.

OK, I'll try the new script soonish.

I use SLiM for some special setups, with non-technical users that do
not want to (or should) see too many confusing options when firing up
their box. And, since I do not use KDE, I prefer not to use kdm either
:)
Haven't used gdm on Slackware for years and xdm is way too ugly.

I can maintain SLiM, it's not that complicated and there aren't that
many updates anyway.

I used SLiM on my virtual machines then It moved to real machines as I
ditched KDE forever, didn't went Gnome. So as long as Xfce do not make
a good login manager, It will be on my machine.

Conky's wlan feature is enabled by default, which is not really a
problem, but *does* require the wlan-tools package to be installed.
Since not everyone does need wlan on their/every Slackware machine, I
propose to add an option for this feature.
And about making it default... I'm not if it should be or not. Any input
on this?

I'm pretty sure that Michael has abandoned his stuff due to 
real-life obligations, so feel free to go ahead and take over
maintenance of that one and submit an update.  If I'm wrong,
I'll take the heat over it :-)

I just got back from vacation a few days ago and finally had a spare 
minute to look at a few emails. I have no problem with someone else 
maintaining slim. I've pretty much converted over to KDE full time now. 
I see there was a kipi-plugins fiasco. I'm glad you decided to remove 
the svn versions of those two, as I probably wouldn't have updated it 
for that. I do have a updated 1.2.0 script here I could upload, but 
since it's not the latest and greatest I doubt many people would use it 
(besides the old one works fine after changing the version number). 
BTW....I ran into a show stopping bug when trying to run my Digikam 
build here (man I miss the old days when people actually tested stuff 
before uploading, instead of this 'submit the day the newest version 
comes out just because it built' crap, oh well). I attached my script 
and the patch (from https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=232628) in case 
you wanted to take a look at it. It's been fixed in the newer versions, 
but of course they take KDE 3.5.x to build. Just noticed the time, have 
to get to bed. Hope all is well with you and yours. Talk at you later.

attached in an earlier message.
As I always do, I maintained your name in the script as the previous maintainer.

When I last used SLiM I encountered a (known) bug where it wouldn't
respawn after X was restarted, it would just hang.
Did you happen to notice if this was fixed?

If this is the case, is it safe that I take over of this and other
perl-* from Michael too? Since many other pkgs depends on his perl-*, I
will try my best to keep them up-to-date (will not requires much effort
though ;)

the omission of the creation of $PKG/install. --enable-man is unused
in the configuration script (which throws a warning that it it is an
unrecognized option), so I removed it. The slackbuild I used to
successfully compile is attached.

I am sending this to the list so others can tag on any other issues
that they may have found or this can prompt you to try i3, this is an
awesome tiling window manager.

I noticed that the following dependencies are missing for the README for i3
* dmenu (optional) - To allow the menu to appear when you press Alt+v
* rxvt-unicode (optional) - The default terminal assigned by /etc/t3/config

And can the maintainer add a line to the script or a note to move
/usr/share/xsessions/i3.desktop to /usr/share/apps/kdm/sessions/ so it
will appear in the session list under kdm?

Done, but there are probably others.  I pushed an entire 
set of updates recently [1] in which I forgot to explicitly
set the SlackBuild script permissions to 0755.  Hopefully,
most of them already had 0755 perms anyway, but at least for
the ones that *I* approved, they would have been 0644 - I
always change the file mode right before I generate the
tarballs, so I never bother to change each one individually
as I uploaded it :/

[1] No, I don't recall which set of updates - I didn't even
    remember doing it until I saw this mail, at which point
    my first thought was "Oh, damn."  :-)

Maintainer can do these two  :-)

NAK.  Instead of moving it, either symlink it or put another copy
there -- /usr/share/xsessions is the "standard" location for gdm.

Subject: [Slackbuilds-users] Opera 10.62

Just wondering when the new verison of opera hit the repository. Some
time ago.
	Oh, and the build script doesn't quite seem to adhere to the
build script template. Both the version and revision number should be
variables with defaults rather than set statically in the script.
Of course now that opera seems to have solved the repackaging issue
regarding the tar.bz the script might go through a rewrite anyway, but I
just wanted to mention it.

I can't do this right now, but I'll submit an update with the changes
