Hello,

I'm planning to install Slackware 13.37, and gnome, from the
gnome-slackbuild project.
The reason for me to use gnome is that I'm blind, and gnome is the only
desktop environment which so far provides accessibility.
It does this using the orca screen reader.
Orca supports text to speech out of the box.
However, for orca to also output braille, it needs brlapi, the brltty
aplication programmable interface.

brlapi is not part of either the official Slackware packages, or the
gnome slackbuild project.
I'm not an experienced SlackBuild-script writer.
So I wonder if someone on this list can take a look at it, and post a
build-script in the Accessibility section on slackbuilds.org?

The brlapi stuff can be downloaded here:
http://www.mielke.cc/brltty/download.html

And the brlapi manual can be found here:
http://www.mielke.cc/brltty/doc/Manual-BrlAPI/English/BrlAPI.html

The brltty program itself is provided in the official Slackware release,
it's just brlapi that needs to be looked at.

Thanks!

Regards, Martin
