Ah! It wasn't a typo, but a PBCAK. :-)

I found the package using google, and I was directed to the SlackBuild
for Slackware 13.1, that is version 3.11.1. _That_ version seems not
to compile under Slackware 14.0 without the patch.

So... thank you for double checking. I am sorry for the noise and for
wasting your time!
