Hi!

As much as I can imagine, your wxpython-2.8.12.1 install is for some 
reason broken. Do you have a multilib system? Did you also install 
wxGTK? Do you have a full Slackware install?

Try:

ldd /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/wx-2.8-gtk2-unicode/wx/_media.so | less

and

strings 
/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/wx-2.8-gtk2-unicode/wx/_media.so | grep 
wxEVT

It could help you understand the problem.
