I need to research compatibility of the 2.5 and 2.6 branches and know ahead of time breakages that would result. I can send in a revised pkg (email, etc), but I'd like to look into providing option to build either 2.5 or 2.6 branch before I do a full update. Sorry for the noise. Try: sed -i "s,\\,lib$LIBDIRSUFFIX,g" configure (Maybe there are subdirs with their own configure scripts or such, adapt it as needed, I haven't actually looked at the clamav source) As a last resort, you could do something like "mv /usr/lib /usr/lib.backup", try building clamav... afterwards "mv /usr/lib.backup /usr/lib". As I said there is a patch for 0.98.4rc1 that works well, and 0.98.4 is only a bugfix release. As for the possible fixes, your "last resort" one is the only one that will work on this one. as they have split the configure script in loads of little bits. Personally I have just not installed it and kept the old package. The signatures are still being updated so I don't care too much. For the record, we just swapped over from the unmaintained for quite some time gitosis to gitolite. The change should be completely transparent from both a user's and the SBo admin's perspective - no changes to existing cloned repos should be needed. So what did you strip out? Quite a bit. It's been updated slightly for 2014, but here's the general idea: http://slackbuilds.org/slackbuilds/14.1/misc/texscythe/contrib/make-slackware-plists.sh It essentially takes out all of the docs and source stuff but leaves the full texmf content. It could almost surely be stripped down quite a bit more and still make a mostly-fully-functional texlive package, but not being terribly familiar with exactly what qualifies as necessary, I went this route (it's the same approach I used with 2013). -RW -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... What's not immediately clear is where it went or how to get it back. I'll look into it and see what I can figure out, but as a heads-up, I'll be leaving for Southeast LinuxFest in two days, and I almost surely won't have time to do anything with it there (unless some of us get together for a beer-fueled hackfest) :-) If you come across potential solution in the meantime, let me know. :-) -RW -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... The goal was to get something smaller (yeah, I'm hoping for eventual inclusion in Slackware) without removing essential functionality, but as before, I can't know that without some extensive testing from you. The tarball names have changed, so be sure to sync everything with what's currently available (use the rsync link preferably so that you don't have to re-download stuff that you already have). rsync://rlworkman.net/rworkman/sources/14.1/texlive-2014/ biber is also back :-) Please test with as many different .tex files you can throw at it. Failure reports are appreciated, but even moreso if you can tell me what's missing to cause the failure and how important it is to be in a distro-provided package. My eventual goal, whether this goes into Slackware or not, is to have the following packages: texlive (the tetex plus a bit more texmf) texlive-texmf-tetex-docs (docs for the above) texlive-texmf-tetex-src (source for the above, but will probably not be packaged unless someone gives me a compelling reason) texlive-texmf-tetex-everythingelse (the name is not set in stone, but it gets the point across) I *could* even separate out the "texlive" package into a "texlive" package and a "texlive-texmf-tetex" package, but I don't really see much need for that. It would also complicate postinstall a bit, but that can be figured out if necessary. Anyway, go forth and test and report back. I may not respond (and almost surely won't do any testing/fixing) for a week or so; I'm leaving in the morning for Southeast LinuxFest in Charlotte, NC. It's not only github :-( By the way, to download with the right filename from the command line, you can use --content-disposition on the wget command line, or set the default for wget using 'content_disposition=on' in ~/.wgetrc or /etc/wgetrc (recommended for sbopkg users), or curl -J I think the following are affected: audio/soundkonverter development/ninja-ide development/openjdk development/pyside-tools development/sqlitebrowser graphics/scrot libraries/giblib libraries/libdesktop-agnostic libraries/lua-zlib libraries/luasec libraries/luasocket misc/par2cmdline multimedia/cantata network/arno-iptables-firewall network/modsecurity-apache network/sshuttle perl/perl-mojo python/python-elib.intl system/glances system/google-droid-fonts Actually, giblib can come out of that list now ;-) All the best -D. We should write SlackBuilds to work with default settings though. : ^) Let's note the man page's explanation: """ ?--content-disposition? If this is set to on, experimental (not fully-functional) support for Content-Disposition headers is enabled. This can currently result in extra round-trips to the server for a HEAD request, and is known to suffer from a few bugs, which is why it is not currently enabled by default. Having said > that, there is a lot more effort for having multiple packages, and I > guess it depends on how energetic you are :-) Well, it's still got some refactoring needed, and I'm doing another test run now to see how the sizes work out, but tentatively I'm looking at the following: texlive-texmf-* packages, where * is the following: tetex xml context gust xetex fontsextra latexextra bibtexextra full The first eight are self-explanatory, and "full" will contain the remainder. Each of those nine will be split into three parts: texlive-texmf-* texlive-texmf-*-doc texlive-texmf-*-src No subset will contain anything that's also in another subset, so that should avoid any packaging conflicts (I hope). Of course, once this test run finishes (assuming it actually does, as there could be one or more thinkos in there), there could be a good case made for including one or more of those into a different subsect (e.g. one of them is really small), but time will tell. Finally, this is *still* very tentative, and there still remains to be seen how an actual packaged installation will function and such. I'm planning to do some amateur radio Field Day stuff tomorrow, so I'm about to call it a night and probably won't do much again until Monday. Any thoughts, comments, criticisms, etcetera are welcome. -RW -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Once again, thanks for your amazing work. Personally, I would still install everything, just as I do now. If the base needs to be small (to fit on DVD or whatnot), then a sensible thing would be to have exactly 2 packages: base and the rest. Anything else would be both harder to produce and harder to use. Just IMHO. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... For sbopkg, instead of putting the flag in /etc/wgetrc or ~/.wgetrc so it affects every use of wget, add --content-disposition to WGETFLAGS in /etc/sbopkg/sbopkg.conf. I don't think sbopkg ever uses the -c flag anyway, so it shouldn't hurt anything. In fact, sbopkg should probably ship with this in its default config file, unless it also breaks something other than the -c flag... I know, wrong list. While on the subject of using wget for slackbuilds, I've found that a lot of "you can't download this, use a browser" links work fine if I set wget's user-agent to the same thing firefox uses... except for sourceforge.net, which sends an HTML "click to download" page for the exact same URL that gets me a tarball if I use wget's default user agent. Does anyone have a workaround for this that doesn't involve manually adding '--user-agent=wget' to the wget command line? Thoughts from that perspective: I think the name "full" is misleading. It's really more like "misc", everything that didn't seem to fit in one of the other packages. 27 packages seems like overkill. From yalhcru at gmail.com Sat Jun 28 19:29:10 2014 From: yalhcru at gmail.com (B Watson) Date: Sat, 28 Jun 2014 15:29:10 -0400 Subject: [Slackbuilds-users] HTML man page mini-HOWTO Message-ID: This may end up on the slack docs wiki, I thought I'd write it up here first & hopefully get some feedback. I might be the only one who even thinks this is a good idea, I dunno (I'm one of those "everything needs a man page" adherents). It turns out that Slackware's man command knows how to display HTML pages, using a browser as a pager. If you're packaging something that has no man pages, but has a well-written readme.html or usage.html or such, you can install the HTML file like so: mkdir -p $PKG/usr/man/html1 gzip -9c < whatever.html > $PKG/usr/man/html1/$PRGNAM.1.html.gz (change the 1 in html1 and .1.html.gz to whatever section number makes sense, of course) Alternatively, keep the file in /usr/doc/ and make a symlink: # after copying the docs to /usr/doc # (notice, no .gz extension here) mkdir -p $PKG/usr/man/html1 ln -s ../../doc/$PRGNAM-$VERSION/whatever.html $PKG/usr/man/html1/$PRGNAM.1.html man uses lynx to display it by default. You can set BROWSER in the environment to use something else (even firefox, if you really want to). There's also an HTMLPAGER variable that's only used when man's stdout isn't a terminal (redirected or piped), which defaults to "lynx -dump". If the source comes with a lot of HTML docs that link to each other, this probably isn't a great idea: you'd have to patch or use sed to change all the hyperlinks to whatever.1.html.gz, and maybe rename the files to something users might expect a man page to be called (e.g. TechNotes.html would want to be called ${PRGNAM}_technotes.1.html.gz). Also if the HTML docs use lots of images (content-bearing ones, not just decorations), it's probably not useful to pretend it's a man page as most people will be using lynx to display it. Otherwise it's more easy to download the DVD and install it - it's very quick and simple. Multiple packages or excluding some stuff is problematic, because you have to waste your time if something doesn't work and you have too search for needed packages or why this thing doesn't work. Therefore I'm for minimal possible number of packages and for complete TeXLive distribution. On the one hand it is nice to have TeXLive in the stock Slackware. On the other hand, I don't know why tetex can't be just removed and the freed space could be used for another useful packages; TeXLive can be anytime downloaded and installed from SBo. I had a friend, who said: Don't use LaTeX shipped with your Linux Distribution (he's Gentoo user), because it's always cut off and causes problems. I haven't any troubles with TeXLive available from SBo in the past.
