They are using Qt5 as a foundation for their package, thus a new dependency has been introduced (qt5-webkit). However, as noted in the announcement [2], StatusNotifier is not working well with GNOME-based DE, so if you are using third party DE (MATE, Cinnamon, Budgie, GNOME 3), you may notice a crash on notification panel once Teamviewer starts. Hopefully it will be fixed soon by upstream. I would appreciate any feedback from the community before i merged this into master branch. That said, some scripts does work fine with ARM. -- Willy Sudiarto Raharjo -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... I added a DOWNLOAD_ARM line in the .info, and allowed for FARCH=arm in the slackbuild and it builds fine. I, though, never came round to asking this question, so thank you :) My opinion : ARM is not officially supported by slackbuilds, but many of them are currently working. Allowing - just allowing - for DOWNLOAD_ARM (or even DOWNLOAD_ARM64) in the .info file shouldn't disrupt anything. Why is that? Initially, wxGTK3 was submitted to provide version 3 of wxWidgets, that's all and we didn't considered GTK+3 support. The tarball should be fine, but if you are using the independent SlackBuild file, you need to fix it in the vips.info file. A fix has been committed in my branch and it will be included in the next public update (https://git.slackbuilds.org/slackbuilds/commit/?id=51fcaf2f3) We decided not to push the teamviewer 13 for now as it still crashes for GNOME-related DE. Upstream is still trying to fix this problem. webkitgtk's fix for -current is now backported to stable as it just add permissive flag so you should be able to compile it using stable repo Thanks to all contributors/maintainers Happy Slacking and Have a Great Weekend! I think the test is fine and the error is in OP's network config where localhost and 127.0.0.1 don't match. I've tried this in a VM and the test worked fine. I got the same error message, though, when I deliberately set localhost to eth0's address instead of 127.0.0.1 in /etc/hosts. -- From evanton at tut.by Wed Dec 20 01:13:36 2017 From: evanton at tut.by (evanton at tut.by) Date: Wed, 20 Dec 2017 01:13:36 +0000 Subject: [Slackbuilds-users] Request: please add a build option to skip running tests for perl-http-server-simple SBo buildscript Message-ID: <42701513732416@web37j.yandex.ru> > I think the test is fine and the error is in OP's network config where localhost and 127.0.0.1 don't match. OP's network config seems fine (this setting at least). /etc/hosts contains only a '127.0.0.1 localhost' line. localhost resoves fine when I'm pinging it (as root, just because sbopkg runs as root too): # ping localhost PING localhost (127.0.0.1) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from localhost (127.0.0.1): icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.064 ms The same for 'dig localhost', I'm always getting 127.0.0.1 The "exotic" part of my network setup is that I have two network cards: one gets its IP via DHCP from my ISP, the other has a local static IP. In the past, tests for this particular perl package resolved localhost to the static IP of the second interface. Now they resolve it to my Internet Address (the one I'm getting from my ISP). I am totally clueless about perl, so I have absolutely no idea what's going on there. I have mentioned that I was commenting the tests in the SlackBuild just for context. I'm fine if for backwards compatibility the tests will stay enabled, but a build option like RUN_TESTS with default value "yes" will be added instead. I've no problem doing the little bit of additional work and toggling that option manually so I get this package to compile without passing tests just in my setup. Thank you for the hard work to all of the admins, maintainers, and users. We had a fantastic year with +/- 9669 commits from 303 authors since January 1, plus we are now running on a new machine thanks to our contributors and sponsors (https://slackbuilds.org/contributors/). Some of the work in this project are now included in the Slackware's main tree for the next release and we are excited to further help Slackware's development in the future. Actually, something happened to wget, last time it got updated in Slackware. Try adding this line to /etc/wgetrc: compression = none ...I've been trying to talk Pat into disabling wget's compression support by default (because it's buggy, according to the wget devs themselves). Background: Slackware 14.2's original wget didn't support compression at all. The latest version in patches/ is wget-1.19.2, which does support compression, has compression enabled by default, and has a bug that causes the problem you're having. It'll sometimes decompress a .tar.gz file (so you end up with filename foo.tar.gz, but it's really not gzipped any more), and in this case it gzipped the already-gzipped file: $ wget http://dist.schmorp.de/libev/Attic/libev-4.24.tar.gz --2017-12-24 15:32:35-- http://dist.schmorp.de/libev/Attic/libev-4.24.tar.gz Resolving dist.schmorp.de... 5.9.56.12 Connecting to dist.schmorp.de|5.9.56.12|:80... connected. Turning off compression (via wgetrc or --compression none on the wget command line) makes the problem go away, and makes wget-1.19.2 behave the same as Slack 14.2's original wget, which had no compression support. > I am going to email the libev author as well. When you do, forward him a copy of this email... he might be tempted to "fix" it by changing the script to deal with the double-gzipped tarball, but that'll break it for anyone not using the latest wget from patches/. Hopefully the problem will get fixed in Pat's next wget patch, which would mean he'd have to fix his script again... Yes, but that's a lost battle already: it's been established for many years that browsers do whatever they want to downloaded files... which is why most of us use wget for source downloads. Now wget is acting like the browsers do, and that's definitely a bad thing & something that can & should be fixed before it becomes an established fact of life. I can name 2 more SBo examples: audio/alsacap and games/gtklife. These two are different from yours (the saved file is un-gzipped, not double-gzipped like libev) but the cause and workaround are the same. It's not the file itself, it's the server that's serving the file. It's sending a 'Content-encoding: gzip' header, which is redundant (the actual file is already gzipped). The old version of wget disregards this header, and the new version acts on it by default. It also sends a Content-type header, as usual... if the Content-type is application/x-tar, wget and your browser "helpfully" decompress the file. If it's application/x-gzip, wget and your browser (sometimes, not sure what else is happening) will "helpfully" gzip the file, even though it's already gzipped. You could argue that this means the server is misconfigured, and you might be right... but the fact remains, the old wget did one thing when talking to these servers, and the new one defaults to doing a different thing. Slackware 14.2 is supposed to be a stable release, meaning that patches aren't supposed to cause major changes in behaviour (which is exactly what we're seeing here). The wget devs acknowledge this is a bug, too: http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-wget/2017-11/msg00059.html If it were just me, I'd switch to curl and forget about it. But tools like sbopkg and sbotools use wget... also, so does slackpkg (some Slackware mirror might cause this same problem). Add a SCREENSHOT variable to the .info file? Any change to the .info file format would require a lot of effort though. The standard seems to be that all fields are required, even if empty, so someone would have to add an empty SCREENSHOT to all 6000+ .info files. Maybe instead, use a separate file: $PRGNAM.screenshot. If it exists, it contains a URL to an image file. If it doesn't exist, no problem, there's no screenshot for this build. The SBo web server could read this & turn it into a link on the description page, like it does with the source tarball... actually it could be an inline (offsite) image so it would just appear there instead of being a link that has to be clicked. Another option would be to host the screenshots on the SBo web server, but this would require a good bit of storage. There are about 6,600 builds, assume the average screenshot size is 100K, so like 660MB of storage. By modern standards, not so terribly much, but everyone viewing all those screenshots would eat a ton of bandwidth the project might not be able to afford. SBo does not need screenshots. These are usually available on the source homepage link. If SBo hosts images, if it will require storage and maintenance of our poor overworked admins; if links, then we need to monitor the links for freshness as the living web evolves. SBo is not a forum or social media site. Go there to post your app pics. Let's keep SBo clean, neat and simple in the true KISS philosophy. Improvements that may be far more useful: 1. An update page to fix keywords without needing to bother admins or re-upload the buildscript. 2. Add a line in the HOW-TO and FAQ to remind people to read the README. Seems obvious, but I will just have to smack the next person upside the head if he ask me the same Q answered in the README again. 3. Gis on the Repository page should be GIS. 4. Add 'approved' link to submission page. 5. This may be more trouble than its worth for the submission page, but I have a large monitor with plenty of white space: when clicking on 'pending' also show 'approved' in a second column. I've got another one - it would nice if it was officially allowed to contribute by sending a PATCH directly to the mailing list instead of using the submission form. As many (most?) of use git to track slackbuilds.org it would just be enough to use `git-send-email' or `mutt -H' and be done with it. It would be much faster and easier. I remember we were sending PATCHES once when Slackware 14.2 was about to be released or soon afterwards, I also sent one. Anyway, I use > sbosubmit written by Andrzej Telszewski but sending patches directly > would be even better. We are talking about 2 different situations When 14.2 repository was developed, we had an open session where everyone is invited to submit patches to stabilize the repository. We can also add new scripts directly into git because later on we used the master branch to create what we called 14.2 repository now. Once a new repository has been released, the workflow goes back to the regular one where maintainers can push updates through git directly (if they have the privilege) or submission form. You can use git-send-email to send updates, but it would be best to send it directly to the maintainer instead of to the list (unless the maintainer isn't responding after some time) because maintainers may have their own reason NOT to update a script in the repository or they need more time to test whether the changes you made may break other scripts in the repository. Let's keep the mailing list for discussions, not for sending mass patches just like linux-kernel mailing list :) If you don't have the privilege to push directly to our server, but you know GIT workflow, you can clone our repository and push it into your github/gitlab personal account and submit a (Pull/Merge) Request. I have done this method with some people and so far, it's working great. Note that you can only send updates to your scripts only, not others. -- Willy Sudiarto Raharjo -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... What I'm really missing on slackbuilds.org is that when I go to http://slackbuilds.org/repository and pick a category, I land on a page like http://slackbuilds.org/repository/14.2/network/ that only has program names and versions. I would really like to have a short, one line description of each program there, so I wouldn't need to click on each package link to go to its own SBo page, read its long description there, then get back to the big list. For example, I can go backwards with Z, forward with X, move to the previous tab with 1 and to the next tab with 2. When websites focus on an input box they break my usual workflow. Bu I'm OK if SBo admins and users prefers it this way, I know I'm probably one of only a few who use one-key-shortcuts :) Also, I like to make personalized search engines in my browsers: right click on SBo's search box -> Create search engine and use 'sb' as keyword. Then I open a new tab and enter 'sb package' to go directly to SBo's package's page or search results :) Cheers! -- Ricardo J. I wanted to try the latest version but it requires Qt 5.8 and SBo has 5.7. QupZilla 2.1.2 is the last version which works with Qt 5.7 so I modified your SlackBuild to install it. Apart from the usual modifications (version, md5, etc) the only other change is that the file GPLv3 got renamed to LICENSE. It's been only a few days of testing but v2.1.2 seems to be working fine. Hi Ricardo, Fridrich looks inactive since a lot of time so, a while ago we offered his script for grabs but not many were adopted: I actually grabbed qupzilla and updated it to the same version (for the same reasons) you did in my personal git, but I forgot to push it in the SBo repository :( http://cgit.ponce.cc/slackbuilds/commit/?h=qupzilla https://lists.slackbuilds.org/pipermail/slackbuilds-users/2017-July/019455.html https://lists.slackbuilds.org/pipermail/slackbuilds-users/2017-July/019522.html Matteo From chris.willing at iinet.net.au Tue Dec 26 20:57:45 2017 From: chris.willing at iinet.net.au (chris.willing at iinet.net.au) Date: Wed, 27 Dec 2017 04:57:45 +0800 Subject: [Slackbuilds-users] decklink-sdk In-Reply-To: Message-ID: <4aec5fe81856708f20fe789527566cbd0c365d4b@mail.iinet.net.au> ? ----- Original Message ----- From: "SlackBuilds.org Users List" To:"slackbuilds-users at slackbuilds.org" Cc: Sent:Tue, 26 Dec 2017 17:30:29 -0200 Subject:[Slackbuilds-users] decklink-sdk Hi guys! Availability of source code for decklink-sdk is in same state as jdk (and probably other SlackBuilds) where you can't immediately download by wget, but first need to agree to license terms. Version 10.1.4 was last version you could download without doing that. More recently, you need to agree to terms before you can download the source code. Yes, it's annoying. As well as being an optional dependency for ffmpeg, the decklink-sdk is a stand alone package (sdk for programming apps for https://www.blackmagicdesign.com video hardware). chris -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... It requires registration, but "Desktop Video SDK 10.9.5" (which is the DeckLink SDK) downloads successfully (I just confirmed it by re-registering and re-downloading). This is a pretty important SDK in professional video (Black Magic offers hugely popular video capture cards), so decklink-sdk should not be removed from SBo. - klaatu From edps.mundognu at gmail.com Wed Dec 27 01:08:11 2017 From: edps.mundognu at gmail.com (Edinaldo) Date: Tue, 26 Dec 2017 23:08:11 -0200 Subject: [Slackbuilds-users] decklink-sdk Message-ID: Sorry guys! I'm perfectly happy with #4. As for #5, when the list is displayed on this monitor, with FF full screen, we get the normal view: http://www.koenigcomputers.com/images/SBo_pending_approved1.png with lots of white space (nature abhors a vacuum). I usually just tile the 'approved' page as a separate window (there is a FF tile extension but I try to avoid those to enhance stability): http://www.koenigcomputers.com/images/SBo_pending_approved2.png and refresh each FF window as needed. I was thinking maybe a 1 row, 2 column table (no CSS, web 1.0 is all we really need. damn kids! get off my lawn!) showing each list then only one link is needed for #4. Just an idea. This is not correct. It's not the same issue. sbopkg (and the SBo website) list the expected MD5sum as: f267187d95d76308789e90cd803d8b50 However, the very own MD5SUMS file from Artifex's Github state the MD5SUM for the package as: a0c4c4d9cf5625ab1971703ffde47374 jbig2dec-0.14.tar.gz Source: https://github.com/ArtifexSoftware/ghostpdl-downloads/releases/download/gs922/MD5SUMS Therefore it's not a matter of editing wgetrc but of adjusting the MD5SUM at the SBo database. Well, it actually is the same issue, but from the other end, so to speak. The md5sum on SBo is incorrect because it's the md5sum of the file after wget "helpfully" decompressed it. When I updated the build, I didn't have "compression = none" in wgetrc, and didn't notice that the file I was working with was an uncompressed tarball. It's now fixed in my git branch. ...also note that if you had wget-1.19.2 and didn't have 'compression = none' in wgetrc, the md5sum would have appeared to be correct. This is why it's so annoying to me to have this problem: I only get to put one md5sum in my .info file (in this case, I put the *wrong* one), but depending on the user's version of wget, that md5sum will appear wrong to someone, no matter which I choose. Would it be possible when updates get pushed could there be a way to get the update list in straight alphabetical order as an alternate to category/alphabetical? Well, you can do that locally with tail -n +2 ChangeLog.txt | awk '/+--------------------------+/ {exit} {print}' | sort -k 2 -t / or if you don't want to see the category tail -n +2 ChangeLog.txt | awk '/+--------------------------+/ {exit} {print substr($0,index($0,"/")+1) }' | sort > 2. Could we get some statistics like how many times a package (Slackbuild archive) gets downloaded? There are so many ways of getting part or all of the repo -- git, rsync, mirrors -- it's generally considered impossible to collect meaningful statistics. Thanks -D.
