You should remove *everything* from your previous installation.
I just hope that you had installed it as a regular Slackware package.
using installpkg, so you can use removepkg to remove the old stuff.
Also, you should have made this removal *before* installing texlive.
If you didn't, remove everything then reinstall texlive.
