I wonder which one would be preferred, github.com or > pythonhosted.org. I prefer using the PyPi (i.e. pythonhosted.org) tarballs since it's how the developer intended the package to be distributed. In some cases, it actually matters, and the PyPi version will be bundled in a way you don't get from, say, GitHub. I doubt it matters for defusedxml, though. Message-ID: I have recently taken up maintenance of the apache-ant SlackBuild. The "apache-ant" SlackBuild currently installs Apache Ant 1.9.14, which is the latest release of the 1.9.x development line. It can be used without further prerequisites on Slackware 14.2, in which case it will work with the Java5 runtime provided by GCC. There is also an Apache Ant 1.10.x line, which the developers recommend. However, this version requires at least a Java8 runtime and, consequently, it will have (at least) OpenJDK 8 as a prerequisite. I would like, therefore, to provide a SlackBuild for each of these two Ant development lines, pretty much similar to the three OpenJDK versions that are available in SlackBuilds: openjdk6, openjdk7, and openjdk8. Like the OpenJDK versions, I would, thus, append some indication of the Ant version to the SlackBuild (and also the resulting Slackware package) name. My idea would be, to replace the current "apache-ant" SlackBuild with, say, "apache-ant-1.9" and to submit a new SlackBuild, e.g., "apache-ant-1.10". Would this be a correct way to proceed? If so, would "apache-ant-1.9" and "apache-ant-1.10" be acceptable as SlackBuild (and Slackware package) names? Thanks in advance for any comments, Luc Van Rompaey. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... But to simplify, you may want to consider leaving the 1.9 version as just apache-ant and then have the new one be apache-ant-1.10. This way you don't need to go through and adjust all the SlackBuilds that already require apache-ant to be apache-ant-1.9. Or if the intention is to eventually get rid of the 1.9 version (even if it is for 15.0's release), it may be worth labeling that as legacy and making the 1.10 version the primary, but you'd need to check packages and make sure they work or have their REQUIRES line be adjusted to apache-ant-legacy. If they aren't compatible with each other, make sure it is mentioned in the respective READMEs. Good luck Jeremy > -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I seem to remember getting an 'openjdk' SlackBuild, which IIRC was the OpenJDK 7 version. Nowadays, all of the OpenJDK SlackBuilds include the version number in their names. Would it cause any issues if 'apache-ant' were renamed (be it to 'apache-ant-1.9' or 'apache-ant-legacy') and I simply added a note to the README explaining the situation? By the way, I don't think that Ant 1.9 should be removed, at least as long as gcc5 remains available (as it currently is in Ponce's repository), because if you install gcc5 and want to use Ant with it, then you will still need Ant 1.9. But renames need to not break existing packages, so all the REQUIRES lines for packages requiring apache-ant would need to be updated to the new package name. The SBo admins can do that, but you need to make sure you let them know when you upload the package. By the way, I don't think that Ant 1.9 should be removed, at least as long > as gcc5 remains available (as it currently is in Ponce's repository), > because if you install gcc5 and want to use Ant with it, then you will > still need Ant 1.9. > If it serves a purpose, then it should stay in :) But if the newer version is compatible with the older one and just has different dependencies, it might not be worth maintaining both versions once Slackware 15.0 is released. It definitely makes sense to keep 1.9 in right now for 14.2 since it doesn't require any additional dependencies. But I don't know enough about the software to determine if it's worth maintaining both when both require dependencies (since with 15.0, it would require gcc5). It could be possible to update to the latest LTS, which is 5.12, but it may mean the various dependencies to also be updated, and perhaps older versions kept available for older applications. It would require some testing to make sure that everything works with it. I do still a SlackBuild for 5.12, so I'll have a look at it. Don't know for sure if all these changes are needed, but reenabling instrospection using the configure option --enable-instrospection=yes and applying this patch grabbed from the project git repository: a8bd491866b3a0afcc2eb684cf69e0ae51e8acea both were sufficient to build the additional components needed for gramps work again with osm-gps-map. -- Luiz Ramos, 10/Oct/2019 --- ...ct-annotations-and-add-some-missing-comme.patch | 132 +++++++++++++++++++++ gis/osm-gps-map/osm-gps-map.SlackBuild | 9 +- 2 files changed, 140 insertions(+), 1 deletion(-) create mode 100644 gis/osm-gps-map/0001-fix-incorrect-annotations-and-add-some-missing-comme.patch diff --git a/gis/osm-gps-map/0001-fix-incorrect-annotations-and-add-some-missing-comme.patch b/gis/osm-gps-map/0001-fix-incorrect-annotations-and-add-some-missing-comme.patch new file mode 100644 index 0000000000..ba334a2214 --- /dev/null +++ b/gis/osm-gps-map/0001-fix-incorrect-annotations-and-add-some-missing-comme.patch @@ -0,0 +1,132 @@ +From a8bd491866b3a0afcc2eb684cf69e0ae51e8acea Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 +From: Patrick Salecker +Date: Fri, 19 Feb 2016 13:35:36 +0100 +Subject: [PATCH] fix incorrect annotations and add some missing comment blocks + +--- + docs/reference/libosmgpsmap-sections.txt | 7 +++++++ + src/osm-gps-map-polygon.h | 7 +++++++ + src/osm-gps-map-track.c | 2 ++ + src/osm-gps-map-track.h | 31 +++++++++++++++++++++++++------ + 4 files changed, 41 insertions(+), 6 deletions(-) + +diff --git a/docs/reference/libosmgpsmap-sections.txt b/docs/reference/libosmgpsmap-sections.txt +index d012769..4a4c36e 100644 +--- a/docs/reference/libosmgpsmap-sections.txt ++++ b/docs/reference/libosmgpsmap-sections.txt +@@ -112,5 +112,12 @@ OsmGpsMapTrackClass + osm_gps_map_track_add_point + osm_gps_map_track_get_color + osm_gps_map_track_get_points ++osm_gps_map_track_get_length ++osm_gps_map_track_get_point ++osm_gps_map_track_get_type ++osm_gps_map_track_insert_point ++osm_gps_map_track_n_points ++osm_gps_map_track_remove_point ++osm_gps_map_track_set_color + osm_gps_map_track_new + +diff --git a/src/osm-gps-map-polygon.h b/src/osm-gps-map-polygon.h +index 5eb3139..da97f12 100644 +--- a/src/osm-gps-map-polygon.h ++++ b/src/osm-gps-map-polygon.h +@@ -53,6 +53,13 @@ struct _OsmGpsMapPolygonClass + GType osm_gps_map_polygon_get_type (void) G_GNUC_CONST; I couldn't find that page. Age is not necessarily an issue; pflogsumm is still at 1.1.5 from a very long time ago but it still works with current postfix versions. > This being said, I certainly wouldn't use such a tool to cleaning old > files in /tmp or elsewhere, but you may like it. Then, you could submit a > SlackBuild for it? Okay. I probably installed it a couple of decades ago and it was moved from system to system and probably from Red Hat7 to Slackware8 16 years ago. That's why I asked whether it did anything useful. Periodically I check /tmp and remove the dust bunnies that have accumulated since the last cleaning. So now I'll remove it from /etc/cron.daily. As I understand, it is standard protocol to contact the maintainer about such things first, and only post to this list if you have not received a response within a reasonable period of time. > I'd try to package it, but VB is a little beyond my skill to reasonably > maintain it. Personally, there are some things I just have no interest in compiling: libreoffice, Chromium, KDE (have I said thanks to AlienBob yet?) and VirtualBox, being prime examples. For VirtualBox, for years I've used the .run installers distributed by Oracle, without issue. So that's what I do to run the latest version. YMMV of course.
