Then I typed retext at the command prompt and the ReText GUI opened up. I then opened up /usr/doc/libjpeg-turbo-2.1.2/BUILDING.md (using the GUI) and it displays fine. So it works for me. The package and all references show it as ReText so that's what I entered on the command line. Sigh. LIBSVM's HOME is https://www.csie.ntu.edu.tw/~cjlin/libsvm/ and it comes with a Makefile but there is no install target so I manually install the files into 'the usual' subdirectories under /tmp/SBo/package-libsvm/ Is that OK ? In addition there is a python3 PlugIn and optional PlugIns java and matlab. I've added Runtime Variables to control building the optionals PlugIns. I don't have matlab so I am not sure where the files should 'land' in the SlackBuild. Does anybody know where matlab PlugIns should be installed ? The matlab Plugin can be compiled for Octave with a make.m script. Does anybody know where Octave PlugIns should be installed ? I would suggest somewhere sensible that the user would have to manually add to the Matlab path. If you're utilizing /opt then obviously a subdirectory there. From browsing the FHS (https://refspecs.linuxfoundation.org/FHS_3.0/fhs/index.html) /usr/libexec/$PRGNAM would make the most sense to me, because from the point of view of Matlab, they are executable files. Matlab by default adds $HOME/Documents/MATLAB to the Matlab path, but you can't install anything to $HOME in a package. However, if the user needs read/write permission to the plugin directory, then I would argue for /usr/share/$PRGNAM and instruct the user to copy the files to their home directory before using. Because in that case, the files belonging to the package are more similar to just data. > > The matlab Plugin can be compiled for Octave with a make.m script. > > Does anybody know where Octave PlugIns should be installed ? It probably doesn't work as it is, looking at the dependency tree which is a proper python2/python3 mess. It is obviously unmaintained, and nobody seems to care. So I suggest we simply remove those packages instead of advertising we have a Slackbuild for it. This'll also allow me to remove the obsolete python2 psycopg2, which isn't used anywhere else, and, as other python2 slackbuilds, should be allowed a proper burial. If nobody objects I'll send a PR to this effect. - Yth / Arnaud. That is the official name of the project on GNOME GitLab, and GNOME Web is just the end-user-facing name. Also, the Epiphany game is not currently packaged anyway. If someone picks it up in the future, they could always call it "epiphany-game" or something like that to avoid a naming conflict. If the install instructions would be meaningless to someone who isn't compiling/building the software (e.g. if it describes how to use ./configure, or documents options to cmake), don't include it in the package. Users who build/install your package don't need instructions on how to run ./configure or cmake, your SlackBuild already ran it for them. > I thought maybe I should not include this files but I saw that they are > included in several packages > mostly of them include the INSTALL and a few INSTALL.md such as the > pipewire. In the past, before sbolint, most people just left the INSTALL docs in the doc dir, whether they're useful or not. They don't *hurt* anything, they just take up a bit of the user's disk space, and waste a bit of his time, if he reads them. There are still a lot of packages that include them. I'm trying to convince everyone to tighten this up a bit, and not include useless instructions in packages. I am not maintaining pytest-runner. In slackbuilds.org, pytest-runner currently depends only on pytest (Python 2). However, as you mentioned, scipy3 instead should depend on python3-pytest. The way I get around this is that I don't install pytest at all, but instead install python3-pytest. 2. I would suggest splitting pytest-runner into Python 2 and Python 3 slackbuilds. pytest-runner is available at a later version, at 6.0.0 (that version only supports Python 3). 3. If we decide to split pytest-runner: dropbox-python, which depends on pytest-runner, builds in both Python 2 and Python 3. dropbox-python at slackbuilds.org is vastly outdated. And I'm a bit of a loss on how to fix that. I mean, it works, and I haven't noticed anything go unstable from xdg-desktop-portal being dead. But I dunno. Seems the workaround is to set the environment variable Malloc=1 before running webkit. Apparently it forces webkit to use the system's malloc. While this still crashes xdg-desktop-portal, it doesn't crash webkit. I don't know the security/stability implications of using Malloc=1. But nothing seems to break even with xdg-desktop-portal crashing still. Also, since the dbus thing is a webkit problem. Should the .conf file for the non-abstract dbus socket go to the webkit package?
