If you can get it to build, you're welcome to submit an audacity2
SlackBuild. Maybe name it "audacity-legacy2" or "audacity2-legacy",
to make it obvious that it's an older version.

You could try ardour. It might be a bit "heavy" if you're used to
audacity, but it's highly functional.
