And Signal works too! I am mystified as to what happened with my Xfce
desktop; I have not changed anything recently that I am aware of. Things
started misbehaving mysteriously, and, just as mysteriously, they seem to
be back to normal. Which makes me uneasy - but, at least, they work . My
apologies for having brought this up.
