Interesting.

How much does the Guile language change between version 2.2 and
3.0? If someone's written Guile bindings for xbindkeys, using guile
2.2, should we expect them to still work under guile 3.0?

That's not a rhetorical question, I seriously don't know anything
about guile. But it would worth finding out before making such a
change...
