Perhaps I wasn't clear - I'm not suggesting that you wipe your
installation and start over. :) I'm suggesting that you use the
alternate root option for installpkg(8) to install a fresh system in
a chroot environment. Essentially, it works like this (make sure you
have enough free space for another full installation):
mkdir -p /chroot # change as desired
installpkg -root /chroot /path_to/slackware/*/*.tgz
chroot /chroot /bin/bash -l

Well, maybe. Any idea how long until that 2.1 version releases?
I can't make any promises, as I've got a *lot* going on in other
projects, but I'll try to have a look at gnucash and see what I can
work out. As it stands, there are at least two better options IMHO
(if only because they don't need eleven million libraries that aren't
part of stock Slackware) in kmymoney2 (which we have at SBo) and
MoneyDance (which I use - it's not open source, not free, and uses
Java, but it's a dang good app IMHO).
