With respect to generating the hal fdi files if hal is installed, yes,
this is a good idea assuming we can do it only if hal is installed.
It's been so long since I looked at the libgphoto2 code that I just
don't remember specifics on how/when that's done.

With respect to changing the required 'camera' group to 'plugdev' -
yes, this needs to be done for sure.

Since you use this, would you be willing to take care of these changes
for us and submit the update?
