An ordinary user doesn't care and won't be changing it anyway.
An ordinary user will accept the default.
An ordinary user that happens to be a bit extraordinary will 
know to edit the makepkg line, at which point (s)he will see
the PKGTYPE usage, at which point we're back to my previous
email.  

Sorry, but we're not changing this in the foreseeable future;
there's a consensus among the admins (and Pat too, for that
matter), so the issue is settled - let's all move on :-)
