Dan, FYI: if you, for any reason, cannot do with the version on
slackbuilds.org, Eric Hameleers provides a  build script and
precompiled packages for the latest version

His version builds a python-2.7.1 (and a lot of other python modules
and stuff) just to use it with calibre (it installs in
/usr/lib${LIBDIRSUFFIX}/calibre).
