Hi.
Bittorent itself isn't. It's just a way of distributed file sharing.
File sharing itself is not illegal if the files themselves are legal.
For example, most Linux distributions (including Slack) offer
bittorrent downloads as a way to decrease a load on the physical
download server.
Piracy is what is illegal. No matter if on bittorrent, usenet, ftp or
any other medium.
