Hi Andrea,

check the xephem-3.7.7.tgz you downloaded, because it looks different here

# ls -la xephem-3.7.7.tgz
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 18128521 Oct 31 17:30 xephem-3.7.7.tgz
# md5sum xephem-3.7.7.tgz
27c67061a89085bf2b0d4e9deb758a79  xephem-3.7.7.tgz

try using wget to get the sources, like

wget -c http://www.clearskyinstitute.com/xephem/xephem-3.7.7.tgz
