I must be missing a step here. I downloaded that tarball, untarred it and
ran the ../packages/scangearmp2-3.70-1.x86_64.rpm through rpm2tgz. Installed
the .tgz package. The package has been installed.

scanimage -L still cannot find a device and 'find / -name
scangearmp2-3.70-1' returns nothing.

A pointer will be appreciated.
