Just to clarify (which is I think what Pat was doing):
Our scripts are intended for use on Slackware 11.0 -- we neither
test nor support them on -current. If you want a package for
Pidgin on Slackware -current, see this directory:
http://slackware.osuosl.org/unsupported/pidgin/current/
As Pat indicated, it uses gnutls (which is already in -current).
