Thanks very much for the offer.  And thanks for the reminder that the
changes were made for 1.1.1.  As I mentioned, the exact same config file
cheerfully worked forever, so I think I will bark up another tree for a
bit.  (Maybe a stray high-energy neutrino hit my CPU just at the wrong time
while I was compiling it.)

I will play for a bit and then, if I can't figure anything out, I'll
happily take you up on the offer.
