Because even though the name is the same, it's a totally different
program, by a different author. And it *does* call makepkg.

Most likely, you had /usr/local/bin in $PATH before /usr/bin, and you
ran that deb2tgz command instead of the one from SBo.

Right, you didn't.

SlackBuilds.org didn't provide your /usr/local/bin/deb2tgz command,
so we can't fix it.

If there's a bug to be reported here, you should be reporting it to
the maintainer of the ZenWalk deb2tgz package, or to its upstream
(look for contact info inside the script).
